How to get Pixarian autographs

You’ll have to send it to the studio itself. I sent a letter (HUGE, crazy amazing one) for Pete bit longer than 2 months ago. Bryko614 sent one not too long before that, and we haven’t gotten replies yet. I’m guessing it’s because Pete’s still overseas promoting foreign releases for Up. Last I heard, he was in Sweden, but that was about 2 weeks ago. Regardless, it’s gonna be quite some time before he gets back to Emeryville to swim through a MOUNTAIN of fanmail. I just hope mine stands out.

I think you should go for it! I’m sure Pete loves to hear from fans, and from what I’ve seen, he’s pretty responsive to fanmail. He just has to get to it!

Hmm, draw a Pixar charackter outside your Mail, and then they stand out

Haha, I actually drew Carl’s house on the envelope I sent.

Why not, a good idea

UP: He did. :stuck_out_tongue:

What seems to be the range of response times? It’s been about a month and a half since I sent my letters to Brad Bird and Andrew Stanton. I know the latter has been scouting locations for John Carter of Mars…

I’ve heard anywhere from a month to 4 months. I’m sitting on about 2.5 months, a bit longer I believe. Mine was to Pete Docter, and I imagine he’s out of the country, promoting the film globally, so I’m being very patient about it. HOWEVER, in a few days, I plan to throw a bit of a doozy towards Pixar, something I think should grab their attention, at least I hope.

Angelnumber25: It all depends on how busy they are. It could take a few months, but Pixar is usually good at getting back to people. At least in my experience. Be patient! It will be worth the wait!

ffdude1906: I had a dream (yesterday) that you’ll gonna received a response from Pete within a week. I dunno if this right, but if it’s real, it’s freaky. :open_mouth:

I’m nearing three months of waiting. My mom wants me to write another letter, but it should come in the next couple of weeks.

I finally sent mine after mine was returned to me because I mailed it wrong, lol, now I am two days behind what I normally was…

It came! It FINALLY came! Haha!

The BIG one.

(sorry, couldn’t resist.)

At approximately 11:20 a.m. today, I’m lying in my parent’s bed, trying not to fall asleep, and the doorbell rings, followed by a firm knock. I get up, slowly peek into the front hallway of my house, and notice a man placing something at the door. It’s a FedEx guy, I’m guessing it’s something for my dad, he gets packages almost daily. As he walks back to the truck, I unlock and open the door, and he yells back “Thanks!” I reply with a “Thank you!” and pick up a small(ish) box off my front porch. It’s addressed to me, and the return address reads:

ElissaKnight
Pixar Animation Studios
1200 Park Avenue

Emeryville, CA 94608

At first I’m confused, because the previous night (about 11 hours before to be exact) I had recieved an email from Lee Unkrich telling me he’d send me 2 t-shirts from the studio as a reward for watching Up 50 times. I’m thinking,… wait a minute, this can’t be the shirts, no way! I take the package up stairs while thinking,… could it be?

I open the box, and feel inside a bit, it’s packaged a bit tightly. There’s a bit of bubblewrap inside, and I almost think that it is the shirts. However, I pull out a crisp, fresh copy of the Art of Up. Still confused, I flip it over, and a pair of balloons with the German Up logo on them fall off the front of the book, attached to a sticky note. I read it:

Hey Chris-
A few Balloons for your
collection - from the
German opening of
“UP” (aka “Oben”)

  • Pete

It was at this moment my heart began to race. I opened the front cover of the book, and inside lies an Up glossy print, with the production still of Russell looking up at Carl through a pair of binoculars. A smile plasters itself to my face. I move the glossy print aside to find a HANDWRITTEN note, 2 pages, from Pete Docter. The second page is mostly covered by a sketch of Mike Wazowski, and Pete’s signature. I read the letter, and I think I may have teared up a bit as well. Inside the book, I noticed some marker had bled through the back of a page, so investigate the other side to find a sketch of Carl and Kevin, and a note written inside the first page of the book, addressed directly to me.

Absolutely enamored, I flipped through some of the pages of the book, and realized that this copy was in MINT CONDITION. The book had barely been touched, except by Pete himself.

Here are some photos.

Awesome, awesome day.

DUDE…

DUDE…

I… I donno what to say…

This is amazing! It makes you feel so good to know how much Pixarians like Pete Docter really care about their fans.

The glossy print should be framed if it isn’t already.

The letters should be photocopied, so you have a copy to read whenever you need and one to hang in another frame.

I donno what you could do with the balloons…

Still cool stuff. :sunglasses:

Awesome stuff! Thanks for sharing the pictures. That is one great success!

Dude, I don’t know what to say. Major, major congrats that is so awesome. Seriously, I’m trying to find the words, but I jsut can’t express it. You know how awesoem it is though so you don’t need me telling you. I think I would have cried too, (if you did actually cry).

Major congrats again, dude. You deserve it. Now, you just gotta get that Pete interview locked up.

That is great to hear ffdude! I’m so happy for you! I actually felt a little teared up when I read : “Keep drawing, work hard, love what you do, and you’ll have a great adventure! - Pete Doctor”

It shows that Pete Doctor put some thought about how to thank you for seeing the movie. If I was you I would have just thought that he would only send a little letter, but he did more than that. That is truly amazing. Make sure to keep all that stuff safe. <3

I kindof feel like like Kagura in episode 21 of Azumanga Daioh, struggling to find words expressing just how … absolutely freaking awesome this is!

So here’s a big, huge thanks from me to Pete, Lee, and all the other folks at Pixar for making more than just one obsessive Pixar fan happy beyond words.

As Crush the turtle would say: You so totally rock, Dudes!

By the way, I was a bit surprised that Pete sent you two German Up publicity balloons, of all things. I wonder if other countries had those as well.

@Doc, haha I wish. That would most definitely be amazing.

Thanks so much for all the compliments and support guys, I’m really glad I could share this with you all. Been totally crazy, that’s for sure, but dang, what an awesome day. And I’m glad I made you happy totoro, XD No way I would exclude any of you from this.

You got a personalised, signed copy of The Art of Up? Wow… Hold onto that tight! You must have been so excited to receive that package, and to think that Pete saw your letter AND your video is just fantastic. Thanks for showing us what you got and keeping us up to date with the progress of contacting the Pixarians. This has been really exciting for you and for us. Probably slightly more exciting for you. :stuck_out_tongue: Thank you Pixarians!

And ooooh, they have Up glossy prints now? That’s good to know.

too cool. my favorite thing is Pete’s line that:

If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life…

very poetic…
