How to get Pixarian autographs

Bryko614 I sent Pete Docter, Andrew Stanton and Brad Bird the same letter with very minor details changed, When Remy arrived on the Envelope I thought it was a letter from Brad Bird, but was proved wrong with my ideas!

I will admit considering the timing of the letter, and when I sent it originally Pete Docter was the last name I was expecting, mainly cause Up (the movie in which the studios have been so busy with) was in it’s post production and was being advertised for the US Markets…

Getting the balance right on the letter is important, but if you lay it out of him, you might just find that when it arrives, there is a man waiting to read your letter appreciates the time and effort you put into writing it, like you appreciate the time and effort he puts into creating a show-stopping, Box Office Breaking, Movie!

I’m a bit lucky in this area, I have so much I’d love to tell Pete about what Up has done for me, how it’s changed my life. It’s really amazing, I really want to tell him about my final trip, my picture of Carl, potential (now prevalent) career change, change in personality, just all those things coming from this one movie. I really hope to hear back from him, and I want to thank the rest of the staff for the movie as well. It takes a lot of people to make something so amazing, I don’t want to leave anyone out.

Thank you very much for the comments, everyone!

Ha-ha. Well, I met Brad Bird a year or two ago at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. He was to be interviewed during a seminar there, and I happened to meet him right before he left to catch his plane. He kind of… stopped in mid-step and smiled at me… and then came over and gave me his autograph. I told him in a few short words that Ratatouille changed my life and said that he was “glad it did”. I’m still rather numb from the whole experience, and I can safely say that it still stands as the best day of my life.

I wrote out the whole experience in detail in another thread. Perhaps I’ll see if I can excavate it for you later on.

Heheh. Don’t worry about it. Just make sure to avoid double posting on the same day.

In any case, back on-topic…

– Mitch

I’ve been sat on this letter for a good while now…

I think Its time I share with you… what I received from Pete Docter…

You can probably see why, when I was doing my first teaching practise this arrival as the end drew near came as a great boost and inspiration!

Wow, great letter! Man, Pete just seems like the coolest guy ever! XD I love the advice given throughout, he seemed really interested in helping you out. Congrats on the great reply!

Very cool glossy photo, Mitch! Was that autograph real, or pre-printed? Glad to hear Brad liked your fan-mail.

And Captain Pan, you’re incredibly lucky to have a typed response from Mr Docter himself! I’m so jealous, and that’s some great advice he gave you there (as well as Mr Stanton!).

When I have time and I can work up the courage, I must try this one day!

Oh wow, you’re so lucky Captain Pan! Pete Docter seems like such a great guy, and the personalised advice he gave you is amazing! Thanks for sharing it with us.

while I was on vacation I got a glossy photo from Lee Unkrich! It had a still from the Toy Story 3 trailer (Buzz’s Logo) and had a personal message at the bottom!

CaptPan: Lucky lucky lucky lucky lucky lucky! Good for you!

Wow, that is amazing!!! You are very lucky Captain Pan and I just love how Pete Doctor has the time to speak to his loyal fans! Also here, I too must give this a go someday to see if he does answers with anything!

No offense intended, DinoGirl, but I don’t understand why you’re so enthusiastic about it. Docter, though this thread proves he does listen to SOME of his fans, clearly does not listen to ALL of them.

I am a perfect example of that: I sent a letter to him as well (for what purpose I will reveal to most of you later), but that was just over two months ago! I’m even beginning to question whether he, or anybody at Pixar for that matter, has even read the letter at all!

Sorry if this comes across as antagonistic. I’m just not in the best mood right now, upon obtaining another opinion about my concerns :frowning:.

Oh no, it’s ok… I was enthusiastic about it because in my small world, I haven’t wrote to Pete Doctor myself or even seen a reply before. Is it that cause that I’m thinking? Sorry if I sounded a little over the top with my former reply.

Well, you have to understand, they’re incredibly busy up there, Up is still being released internationally, so they still have some work to do. Pete’s probably swamped in things he has to do, with DVD features being made, international events, the Pixar Treasures still isn’t out yet, Pixarians are incredibly busy people. Just try to be optimistic, and don’t think about it too much. I’ve been waiting for a reply for about a month now, and I’m still checking the mail every afternoon.

Thanks for taking it lightly, both of you, but the thing is, again, I’m not sure if they’re going to read it; one thing I WILL reveal for now about the letter is that it featured a suggestion.

…Wow. THIS is an awkward silence…

Anyway, yes, I sent a suggestion, as opposed to just saying that I look up to him, which is along the lines of what Captain Pan did. Thus, if he doesn’t reply (or even LISTEN, for that matter), at least I’ll know why.

So I’ve finished my letter to Brad Bird, saying how his movies has kept me going through my toughest times, and how much I am a fan of TI. I’m gonna send my Ratatouille cover to him - maybe my TI cover too? - and hope for the best. Even though IRC isn’t needed, I’ll add one just in case and hope it comes soon enough (hope my [true] story will be touching enough to get a personal signature…)

Ok so I’m sending off my letters to Brad Bird and John Lasseter tommorow. Wish me luck!

How do u guys send lettersa 2 them.

i sent a letter 2 them by e-mail sometime in June 09 to "ir@pixar.com’’
what they sent back was “investor relations is no longer at Pixar”

So wat i’m trying 2 say is do u guys send letters by mail or do u e-mail them a message?

The only contact information I’ve found for fans to use, as opposed to employees and employee-wannabes, is for “snail mail,” not email. It can be found on Pixar’s website.

Still, I wouldn’t recommend trying again unless you ABSOLUTELY NEED TO, based on personal experience. Look at earlier posts to see what I mean.

I will probably write a letter to Pete Docter. Should I even sent the letter to him or to Pixar?
