really? Well if that signed WALL-E poster I saw is any indiction, the Nemo poster will be worth quite a bit of money! How did you swing that?
dannix1000 - Wow. That’s pretty neat! Did you get both of their signatures at the same time, or did you meet them separately? (Or, on another note, did you order the poster? That adheres to my situation, since I also have a Finding Nemo poster signed by most of the cast, even though the poster itself was purchased on Ebay.) Just curious.
You know, the more I think about it, the more I realize how embarrassing that letter I sent to Brad Bird was…
– Mitch
Haha, I know what you mean Mitch. Once I sent a fan letter to a favourite actor of mine, basically declaring my love for him and all that sort of spiel and he replied with a signed photo and a little note saying that although he appreciated how much I enjoy his work, he unfortunately couldn’t take up my proposal as he was already married.
I’m set on the idea of sending a letter (and perhaps also a drawing) to Pete Docter this summer. My only worry is that he’s going to be really busy dealing with all of the Up stuff for a while, but I guess it’s worth a try nonetheless.
lizardgirl - Ha-ha! Oh, gosh, that’s hilarious. At least the person you wrote to was nice about it and had a sense of humor.
I’m sure that Mr. Docter would love a personalized letter and a sketch from you! Granted, they’re always busy, but I believe it was previously mentioned on this thread (or somewhere else; I neglect to remember the location) that timing is everything; of course, concerning Pixar, it’s hard to judge exactly how busy they are at times, but there’s no harm in trying!

Just wondering but do they always send something back? I sent a letter back in early May and still haven’t seen anything back…
woody: I’m pretty sure they usually send something back. It may take awhile though. I remember it took a couple months before I got a reply from Pixar.
I’m currently puckering up the courage to send my Incredibles or Ratatouille DVD cover to attempt to get Brad Bird to sign, although I don’t know how to “stand out from the crowd”. I’m not skilled in drawings, so fanart is out of the question, and I can’t do “love letters”, because he’s Brad Bird and I’m a guy.
One question: since I live internationally, is it best to include an international reply coupon, or has anyone got away with just sending their stuff? I know, I know, I shouldn’t be stingy (it’s just part of my frugality), and it’s best if I send one with it anyway, but does the folks at Emeryville really care?
Phileas - You should just send the paper cover (take it out of the slip) of your DVD and send that to them. They’d pay for postage. They send out free autographs all the time free of charge, and they’re pretty big, slightly larger than A4, too, so they should have no problem sending a piece of paper back. Maybe let Brad know what you liked about the movie and say you’d appreciate a signature. Don’t be too bummed out if you receive back a pre-printed autograph only, though. It happens to the best of us, but it’s worth a try!
Heheh. Cool! Thanks, Pixar!!
Although I didn’t get a personalized letter from Mr. Bird, I ain’t complaining. I already met the dude of awesomeness, so I’m beyond gratified in that respect. Still, I kind of hope that he’ll reply to my embarrassing little note at some point, even if it takes a zillion years. At least he got the note… I think. Mr. Bird, if you got it then… ignore that one sentence I wrote on the other side of the page. It’s so embarrassing! Just keep the Hogarth drawing! (snigger)
Once again, thank you ever so much, Pixar! You guys are awesome, taking the time out of your day to send me back a nice letter and everything. Merci beaucoup!
– Mitch
Sooo cool!!!
btw, here [in my country: ] the IRC has stopped years ago, so how am i gonna get a reply without IRC? are they still post a reply to me if i didn’t have one?
*Edited for shouting. Also, there is no need to quote the entire post. Thank you. – Mitch
Oh wow, I started freaking out when I saw those autographs. I’m starting to work on photoshop and some 3d modeling (hoping to animate for Pixar one day!) so I really wanna make an awesome piece of Up fanart and send it to them, asking for Pete’s signature, and if he’s even available to give autographs, Mike Giacchino (considering he doesn’t work for Pixar exclusively, I doubt it).
I’m also hoping to go to see the Studio at some point, and if I ever visit Emeryville, I’d probably try to bug Ed Asner as well for an autograph. I hope they have Up glossy prints already, or by the time I get a good piece of fanart to send to them!
1 more thing, Chef, I dig your signature pretty awesome, and it’s a shame you haven’t seen Up in theaters yet> I WARN YOU, watch it in 3d at your own risk, there’s not much in it, and I enjoyed it more without the 3d. However, NOTHING can stop me from loving it, fantastic movie.
That glossy is really cool, Mitch! It’s a great shot from the film. And I love how at the top of the letter they sent you, the ‘i’ in ‘Pixar’ is a little Woody. It’s a shame Mr. Bird didn’t reply personally, but it does sound like he’s pretty busy at the moment, and as you said, you’ve already met the guy himself which is amazing! Thanks for showing us your letter and glossy, Mitch.
Mitch, I dig your choice of film. Ratatouille is my 2nd fave, it deserves more notoriety. When and where did you meet Brad Bird? It’d be so amazing to meet Pete Doctor, John Lasseter, or any of the big wigs up there. What was the encounter like? Gimme every detail!
ffdude1906:
lol. thanks. the quote of Russell about the GPS always ring my ears. lol. you don’t wanna know how badly i wanna watch Up. desperate measure for desperate times.
Mitch: lol. sorry. get crazily excited all of a sudden lol.
wannabechef91: yep. still no IRC. stupid post mailing system
Cool reply, Mitch! Too bad he didn’t reply personally, but that’s a real nice photo they sent you! And who knows, maybe when he isn’t too busy, he will reply to your note! And that’s neat that you sent a Hogarth drawing! I bet he liked that.
wannabechef91: You can still try writing without an IRC. Pixar is usually pretty good about paying postage. It’s worth a try.
Hannah: really? cool! my mom also encourage me to do the same thing. at first she didn’t believe that Pixar would send a fan mail reply.
a BIG thanks to you!!! & btw, thanks for following me on Twitter.
which is the best thing to do?

btw, welcome to the club kummararavi!!
The Toys may not be back Just yet, But Captain Pan is Back and he’s got some lovely news…
Well Some News…
Sone of you may remember Back in MAY (Yes that is almost 2 months ago now) I created this post in a blind panic…
Well I passed the teaching Prac, but am going off topic… In that Same post I mentioned
Well, It was a bit of a suprise on June 16th when as I prepared for my final Weeks of placement a White Envelope with Remy on the front arrived on the doorstep…
It was a lovely typed letter from Mr Pete Docter, I was stunned!
He has commended my desire to look at teaching in the telling of stories, yet has left me to discover how to tell them, with the task of analyzing my favourites,
However he has given me one snippet of advice,“one thought:” from Andrew Stanton, Storytelling is like joke telling, you set up Characters, Situation, develop it to place people are expecting and surprise them with a Twist…
The Squiggle of a Signature on the bottom and Ka-Pow… I’m all spent…
John Lasseter take 3 and Stanton, Bird take 2 will be in the works now as I look to say thank you to Mr Docter and Give Lee Unkrich a starter for 10!
I really want to get an autograph from Pete Docter, but I’m not sure what to write. I don’t want to write something too simple in that it sounds robotic and needy, but if I write something too long I might not get what I’m looking for. WHAT SHOULD I WRITE?!
