How to Train Your Dragon

To me the video looks like some copy pasting they didn’t put much thought in. Heck, even I could whip up something better. :stuck_out_tongue:

Heehe, it’s the thought that counts, I suppose!

Ooh… would you like to give it a go then, Czarine? I mean this not to mock you, but as a challenge.

I would argue brevity is the soul of wit. There was an attempt to synchronise movements and scenes with the musical beats, and the transitions are seamless (maybe even non-existent). Novice fan-video editors tend to go on the extreme with ‘wash in/wash outs’, flashes, slow-motion, etc. Sometimes this works for fast-paced numbers, but most of the time, it doesn’t.

Anyway, uh… yeah, I guess their method of editing isn’t exactly complicated or anything (probably done with WMM, laugh out loud).

Might as well could have been done in WMM, indeed.

But sorry TDIT. It’s not that every time I think I can do something better than what’s presented to me, I end up actually doing it. I have better things to do. :stuck_out_tongue:

Homework for example… ugh. :l

HTTYD is nominated for ‘Best Animated Feature’ at the 2011 Academy Awards! This is an honor in itself, seeing that so many films competed this year, and there’s only three spots.

It’s also nominated for ‘Best Score’

Good job Dreamworks, :stuck_out_tongue: I’m personally rooting for Powell’s score (even though it’s incredibly hard for me to pick a favorite out of the nominations).

I’d say it absolutely has to win Best Score.
I hope John Powell has better luck than Michael Giacchino did with Ratatouille (still the best film score ever IMHO, but lost to Atonement at the Oscars for whatever bizarre reason).

I like HTTYD and it’s score, but I personally perfered the music in The King’s Speech, so that’s who I’m rooting for!

I’m so happy with this nomjnation. Like, I’m on the verge of tears. Now, if only Tangled had been mentioned…

Yo dawg, I heard you like For Your Consideration sites

So we put multiple things for you to consider inside your For Your Consideration site!

Hear music not on the official soundtrack! See behind the scenes video! Relive some of your favorite moments! Try to get an official copy of the screenplay!

I’m loving listening to the music myself.

prays Powell’s score wins

hides

Haha, why would you hide? A lot of people like the HTTYD score, I think it’s beautiful! I personally want The King’s Speech to win this category, but if it doesn’t and HTTYD gets it, I won’t be disapointed.

I think Inception or The Social Network will probably win Best Score, but I’m really glad that HTTYD was nominated. One of the better surprises at the Oscars this year :stuck_out_tongue:

Either way, it’s a nice thought that it got nominated. I hoped it would.

My best friend and I watched it twice while we were vacationing this weekend. We’ve seen it so many times together, we know all the words!

Now I really want to watch TKS. It must be pretty d**n good to be better than HTTYD’s soundtrack.

I really can’t wait to see whether they’ll do an introductory montage like they did for last year’s. They may produce some new animation for Hiccup and Toothless! Fingers crossed Jay Baruchel or America Ferrera presents the Award

Anyone else upset at no wins last night at the Academy Awards for HTTYD? I guess we all knew who was going to win Best Animated, but of all the scores to beat it for music, why The Social Network? The King’s Speech or Inception I could see… I even liked 127 Hours’ score better than the one that won… I did my full thoughts on the musical categories last week if anyone’s interested… onemoviefiveviews.wordpress.com/ … -nominees/

Oh well - question though; Would HTTYD have been noticed more had it been released later last year? I think it would have been a serious contender - even for nominations in sound, for example. Still, Alice In Wonderland got some nods (and won them), and it was released around the same time last year…

I was ultimately disappointed to see nothing for one of the greatest films of last year…

Oh, in other news, the International Film Music Critics Association did name HTTYD Best Film Score of last year. It also won Best Score for an Animated Feature. Alexandre Desplat (The King’s Speech) won composer of the year (over John Powell), and both ‘Test Drive’ and ‘Forbidden Friendship’ were beaten by ‘Alice’s Theme’ by Danny Elfman for Best single composition… I think the two from HTTYD may have sort of cancelled each other out… Still, I liked Elfman’s work on Alice, and overall I was pleased with the choices in those awards at least. So overall for John Powell’s wonderful HTTYD score, 5 noms, 2 wins at the IFMCA Awards. onemoviefiveviews.wordpress.com/ … announced-

To quote from my Tumblr post:

How in the NAME of all that is holy can The Social Network beat HTTYD in Best Original Score? It’s the same chord transposed over a synthesiser. How does this compare to the sheer orchestral fury of HTTYD or Inception?

Yeah, from the scores I’ve heard at least HTTYD should have won best score for sure.

I was so sure they’d get it.

But from what I’ve just read TDIT I’m now really confused TSN got Best Score for that sort of effort if so.

Inception or TKS I could see with Best Score- though a part of me was so sure for HTTYD…

-sighs-

Agreed. The King’s Speech and How to Train Your Dragon both had waaay better scores.
