You know I live only a few miles away from I-35 (but a lot farter done in Texas), and I know there are a lot of old bridges where I live, but I praying that it will never happens again.
And all my friends always wondered why I was so nervous driving through tunnels and over bridges?
Seriously though, how does a bridge just fall apart. I mean, who dropped the ball (pardon the expression) on this one. Though, if it didn’t happen by human error than my guess is that either the heat or the river weakened it.
There’s been a lot of talk about all the construction going on on the bridge and how unusually loud and vibrating it was. I’m betting the answer lies somewhere in there.
