Cars is a nice and fun movie. I don’t think that it is Pixar’s worst movie. I like some Pixar movies than Cars though. I will see Cars 2. I have an open mind about Cars 2. I’m looking forward to Cars 2. I have added bonus with the short in front of Cars 2.
I’m glad to hear it! Cars is fantastic, it needs more love.
I’m glad you like it, but is there a purpose to this thread? We usually try not to start new threads unless there is something specific we would like to discuss. I’m just wondering what exactly is the point of discussion?
I am with YOU, there is no day that I can’t stop thinking about the film, everytime I am looking for news, videos, trailers, it is driving me crazy, and all that is saying someone who is 23 years old, I simply LOVE CARS
I love Cars. I don’t get why there’s so much hate. Is it because it was just a good movie, and it didn’t CHANGE THE ENTIRE WORLD?
Cars has hate?
Wow, didn’t realize that.
It’s usually perceived as the ‘worst’ Pixar film by snooty movie critics. And there are some people who are not impressed by Disney’s merchandising of the franchise, though this has nothing to do with Pixar (or at least, very little of it).
Not just snooty critics. In general, most people I know dislike it and rank it as their least favorite of the films (Unless you’re a 5 year old boy, my family, or my best friend)
Couldn’t agree more. Cars doesn’t get the proper appreciation it deserves. Perhaps it will soon though! Cars 2 in exactly 100 days! I honestly never thought the day would come but it feels so close now. It’s hard to believe that the movie came out in 2006, that was SO long ago! And you know what’s even harder to believe? They made a SEQUEL to my FAVOURITE movie!!! Take that critics!
im not gonna lie, i don’t LOVE cars, but I like cars. When i first saw it, i thought it was good. Not BAD by all means. It had a great story and a great voice cast, etc. I THINK the reason why people don’t care that much for cars ,in my opinion, is because it feels aimed for a younger audience; talking cars and flipping tractors that act like cows. It’s one of those movies you don’t really remember that much of. (obviously im not saying that about cars fans, im saying that about people who really don’t care for it) Thats what i think.
^Good point. I never thought about that, the younger audience thing I mean. That proabably did play a factor in it, but when you think about it, Cars is a kids movie. So it’s meant to be aimed at the youth. I do agree though that since the main characters are talking cars it is less appealing to adults. I personally thought the theme of Cars was actually quite mature so I’m surprised more adults aren’t into it. By the looks of the new film though I think more adults may come to like it though, due to all the action in it. Honestly, I am not one for gun shoot outs and explosions but when I saw that gun drop out in the trailer I was like “coool!!”
There are so many praiseworthy points with Cars, and most of them get sadly overlooked. As e-j-e stated, a lot of people are angry about it being a “Cash Cow Franchise”, aka a franchise successful because of the massive amounts of merchandise. What does this have to do with the actual quality of the film? That’s unfair judgment. Cars has good pacing. We have some truly relaxing, artistic scenes, such as McQueen and Sally “taking a drive” and stopping to have a surprisingly emotional exchange. I can understand why the movie’s not everyone’s cup of tea, but the issue is people constantly ranking it up against Pixar’s other films. I don’t consider it Pixar’s weakest at all, but it is difficult to say this movie holds a candle to, say, WALL-E. But let’s face it. If it were coming from any other studio, I think people would consider it exceptionally good.
Cars is indeed an amazing movie. And I agree with what everyone above has said. But, we can’t blame all the merchandise overload on Pixar, that’s Disney’s problem. Reading the “Art of Cars” really gives you a chance to appreciate the movie so much more. You can really see how much research, hard work, blood, sweat and tears went into making Lasseter’s masterpiece, and it paid off in my books! Another reason why Cars, I believe, is hated by so many people, is due to Mater - he just isn’t to everyone’s cup of tea. And I’m afraid this isn’t going to be addressed in the sequel, if anything, we’ll have double the Mater compared to the original! Oh well, I like him, so that’s good enough for me!
HOLY COW. That is a lot!!!
Wow, Pixar should open like a Cars memorabilia museum or somethin’!
I really love the Finn full-scale model, the nutty Lightning McQueen model at 0:14, the wall-climbing Finn toy, the video game, the Monopoly board, and the Eric Tan standing poster at 1:08.
pretty good stuff is coming from Cars 2, I am going spend a lot of money
Monopoly?! Sweetness! I want that!!! I’m excited for the new diecast cars, that’s what I mainly collect merchandise-wise.
I am all for this idea. Seriously. How cool!
I would get that Monopoly set, but I already have a Disney/Pixar Monopoly set, and that’s good enough for me.
And I love Cars as well. I think the second will be much better. But, if I may echo TDIT, why is this here? I mean, are we comparing it to other Pixar movies? Rating it? Saying why it is or isn’t amazing? I’m very confused.
