I haven’t seen Cars in 2 years, and I’m still trying to access the fact there making a sequel. Anyone else the same? I might watch Cars again today to get excited
Even I must admit that the thought of a Cars sequel never crossed my mind until they announced it. I have high hopes for it, though.
I actually never thought about it and once I heard about it I had some mixed feelings. But it is happening and I love the movie regardless and I’m hoping for the best even though I’m still a little unsure…
You should rewatch the movie. I was a bit disapointed when they first announced the sequel. I thought the first one wrapped up nicely. But now I’m very excited for the sequel, it’s looking pretty good!
You never know what Pixar has up their sleeve! Personally I will be a little upset if the movie is a flop (in my opinion that is) but even if it is I will still have the first one to enjoy. I’m excited too though and I’m avoiding the Central Cars 2 discussion because although it is fun to learn about the new characters etc, I feel it gives away too much. I would rather watch it for myself and see the characters as they were intended to appear in the movie versus going into the movie already having an idea of how they should act or look. I think that would set me up for disappointment so I’m just gonna wait. 115 days to go!
^ I can agree with you. The press, you guys, news, etc. ruined TS3 for me on several levels.
Eh, I don’t think we ruined anything. I’m sure you’re the one with full control of your computer, no?
Even if it flops, I just love seeing the characters; that’s all I need.
In my opinion, I think it’ll be just as good - if not better- than the first Cars. Therefore, I doubt it will actually flop.
Back when I started uni, I had this goal that I would be working with Pixar if they ever made a sequel to Cars, and that I would be on that team cos’ I loved the first so much.
It seems that dream would be unlikely since I’m wrapping up my Postgrad at the same time the sequel comes out.
@jessie Yeah I mostly love it for the characters. I don’t think it will flop in the eyes of the critics because I think Pixar is pulling out all the stops to blow them away. I think the graphics, effects etc will be amazing. It’s the storyline that I am worried about and losing some of the RS characters and replacing them with new characters. That might not bother other people but that is what will make it or break it for me. @thedrivein Looks like you won’t get to help out wiht this Pixar film! But hopefully you can work on one in the future! I love animation but I can’t actually do it or anything but I still think it would rock to work at Pixar.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, I love the old characters! But, they’ll always be in my heart. I like seeing new.
Yeah, I think I’m just going to wait till the sequel comes out and hope for the best. It is still Cars, so I’m still gonna love it to some degree.
i was seaching cars 2 and came along a movie critic who claims to have seen cars 2 early, and did a review of it.
Yea I am excited, but a little skeptical about the plot, what I think about it here: http://thedreamofpixar.wordpress.com/2011/02/26/cars-2-plot-too-flashy/
No offence, Endrizzi94, but the whole site pretty much saw that before months ago. You don’t have to post it in different topics.
Also, thedreamofpixar, you don’t have to post the link to your thoughts in more than one spot either.
Don’t we have enough details to funamentally prove they are making the sequel? they did a trailer and everything else for it, so isn’t this thread a little past it’s prime?
I think you’ve taken the words the wrong way. S/he doesn’t believe it.
You should always believe in what Pixar Makes!
Except newt.
Haha, nice.
There are two schools of thought on why this film is being made:
The one school of thought says that John Lasseter was inspired by the different places and people he encountered during his world premiere tour for the first film, and wanted to expand the racing world for the sequel to show other racing cultures outside the US-based stockcar setup.
The other school of thought was that Disney side-armed Lasseter into making a sequel because of the incredible profits made from all the toys and merchandise-aka PIXAR sold out under the mighty might of the Disney corporations.
I stand by Lasseter’s words though. I felt that Tokyo Mater was mainly a test to work on a fully-immersive new environment and culture, just like how PIXAR would test some things in their shorts.
uruseiranma: I think it’s a mix of both, personally.
