But why would they make her ugly to begin with? I’m not saying she’ll look like that in the movie. But look at the Tangled concept art. Rapunzel looked slightly different, but was gorgeous. Merida is just ugly and masculine looking.

Well, beauty is opinion. Perhaps the artists just didn’t want to overglamorize her, or think she looks nice.
