I think I’m going against
the general consensus here, but I think she means Pixar employee…I could be
wrong.
…Oh, well!
As one who enjoys the inner
workings of everything, I would definitely pick to meat someone in the Technical Department at Pixar. (Or any
animation studio, for that matter) We all love Pixar?s talent in crafting wonderful story with great plots and
sound characters; but the thing that makes Pixar?s films so landmark and easy to identify is their use of
Computer Animation. Pixar basically invented the CG animated film, with other animation studios still scrambling
to catch up.
More specifically, I would probably like to meet with Ed Catmull. One of Pixar?s
founders, he was a regular old computer geek. The short he created in college (who?s name escapes me) was the
first CG thing?ever! Only when he teamed up creative man John Lasseter was Catmull able to solidify his dream?a
90 minute CG animated film. I think it?s interesting to know what famous people like (food, clothes etc.) And I?d
would probably ask him a bunch of technical stuff that I?m not going to go into here, but I would also
pose:
What is it like being in charge of WDFA?
How different (technically) is Disney
Animation Studios from Pixar?
What is your daily routine?
What do you usually eat for breakfast?
How
much Coffee do you think you drink in a day? Used to drink?
What kind of Car do you
drive?
?and a lot more concerning his personal life. (Heheh) I think it?s interesting to
know what famous people like (food, clothes etc.)?So I guess that would be most of my questions. (laughs)
On the other hand, I would also like to meet a technical guy at Pixar ? one closer to the bottom of the
ladder. I?m really looking into this kind of job, and I would obviously have to start somewhere ? and it would
just be amazing to see what he (or she) does daily. I think many would be surprised at how critical these people
are?the only thing you see in a Pixar film is their work, after all.
Producer ? Man, I?ve never really
understood this job. You initiate, work out the deals and find the right people?then handle all the necessary
little tidbits from day one ?till opening day. And yet, they never get any press! Maybe it?s because people like
hearing about their favorite directors and actors (and maybe their more important, I don?t know) but it seems
almost unfair these critical people never get any attention. If I were to meet one, I?d ask him how he/she feels
about this and hear his/her daily routine, too.
That about wraps it up for me, I guess. A lot of people
here are going to say animators and directors – but I think closer to a ?behind the scenes? person would be my
pick.
