Igor

Well, I saw the movie Igor, about a little hunchback who wants to become an evil scientist. I thought it was an enjoyable movie. If anything stood out, it wasn’t the [spoil]romantic relationship with Eva and Igor,[/spoil] or the story. What I loved was the two supporting characters Brain and Scamper. Brain is just so funny with his witty, commical humor. And Scamper rises to my favorite character of that movie because of his sarcasm and pessimism. [spoil]i love how he endures a lot of deaths and still comes back,[/spoil]

What do you all think of Igor?

Is Scamper the rabbit? I believe he’s voiced by Steve Buscemi.

I really like the look of Igor. I’m not usually a fan of animated films that aren’t done by Pixar, but this one seems to be pretty interesting and quite a bit of fun. I love the idea, and the advert, (despite the overuse of The Automatic’s Monster song) looked pretty cool.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed it, TSS. I might go and see it myself.

Scamper is the rabbit and he is indeed voiced by Mr. Buscemi. He did a really wonderful job. I reccomend it to everyone. It is really enjoyable.

I might rent it. It looks pretty cool.

Well, it just got released in theatres, so if ya want to rent it, it might take a while.

I didn’t think it looked very good. I felt the same way about it’s animation as I felt about Hoodwinked, that it looked outdated by a landslide. I don’t think I’ll be seeing it.

I’ve only seen the trailer for it about 3 times. It’s really not a movie I’ve seen publicized much. But it didnt look that good to me anyway. It looked kinda weird to me.

Obviously, Igor will never match any of Pixar’s quality. BUt I found the movie enjoyable. Even though the animation doesn’t look as nice, the characters made it stand out a bit.

I think what I like about the animation of this film is that it has its own style, and it isn’t trying to be something it isn’t. There was that really weird animated film, Fly Me To The Moon or something like that, and I could hardly watch the ad for that because they just couldn’t make up their minds as to whether they were going for something more realistic or cartoony. It was horrible. At least Igor knows what it is, and doesn’t have any false preconceptions.

I was disappointed by it. I thought I’d love it, but it kind of leaves you with a few laughs and the REALLY great rabbit. Nothing more. One sidekick doesn’t make a good movie.

I merely saw its trailer in the theater once. It looked like an action-packed animated movie during the early parts of the clip, then when it was revealed as another animated comedy… Well, I just felt it became all too cliche as most animated movies I saw are made for the young audience and are comedies. Time for someone to revolutionize the animation industry, me thinks…

I’ve seen this advertised forever in my Animation Magazine, and though it may not be the best, I’m willing to give it a try.

Animation-wise, it is by far not the best. But you will love the rabbit.

No, TSS, it’s not but … well, I enjoyed it. It was cute.

And yes, I loved the rabbit, and it was worth it just for the rabbit. And no I did not only like that character because he was voiced by Steve Buscemi.

I also liked Brain / Brian? But maybe it’s just 'cause I love Sean Hayes’s voice.

Well, I missed its theatrical run in Sing, but I hope to get it as rental. It looks like an interesting spin on the mad-scientist’s assistant. I’m also interested to see the Roadkill Bunny/Steve Buscemi.

I still need to rent/buy this movie. I am yet to see it, i heard about it over a year and a half ago and i had all the time in the world to prepare to go see it and i just never found the time. :stuck_out_tongue:

I saw Igor in the theaters. It was one of those things that you either hate or like. I’m one of the people who liked it. I like movies that are about two people who try to do something. Like Monsters inc. I know alot of people did’nt like it but I thougt that it was one of the best animated films of 2008! Oh, and I like Steve Buscemi.

So far, Igor is my favorite among CG animated films produced by small, independent studios (haven’t seen them all yet, though). Good points: weird character designs; seldom-predictable story, other than the “social-divide” commentary; largely good characterizations and voice work (didn’t enjoy the Jennifer Coolidge character so much). IMO, Igor compares favorably with Monsters vs. Aliens, although I found the MvA ending a bit soft and would otherwise give it an edge over Igor.

With Igor, it looks like Sparx Animation Studios dipped its toe into the CG-feature pool for multiple production backers from different countries, then went back to TV and video-game work after the film fared poorly at the box office. Too bad! It would have been good to see them produce another feature.

Cheers! Steve

I still haven’t seen this. I watch pretty much any animated movies I can get my hands on, not matter what company made it. But I haven’t seen this at my local video rental store, or in stores to buy. Oh well, maybe Starz will play it…
