I'm mad at Disney...

So, now that (as Thomas and PV so wonderfully elaborated in Radio Pixar #6) it’s pretty much Blu-Ray all the way, Disney is focusing all their good extras onto their Blu-Ray releases… and leaving us DVD users in the dust. I just found out that a special feature that I was hoping for on the Enchanted DVD - a game called “The D Files” that will show off every reference to past Disney movies and songs in the film - will only be on the Blu-Ray, and RP #6 points out that the Ratatouille DVD is hurting in the way of special features compared to the Blu-Ray. It appears as though millions of ordinary people are going to be left in the dust until the market comes down to our level. You’d think they would realize that there is still more money to be made in the DVD market right now…

It is most definitely not Blu-Ray all-the-way. It’s going to be okay. A petition might be the way to go, since boycotts never work.

I’ll try to get some more information on this asap, but I must agree with you, KE. Disney’s going way too far with this Blu-Ray thing.

Hey, I’m mad too, but if you never progress, we’ll be stuck in the past. So what I think is that the future IS Blu, but just not so soon.

If the future is Blu, then we should all convert to Bluism ASAP.
If the future is NOT Blu, then we don’t need to worry about anything.

Is the future Blu, or not? That is the ultimate question.

We could…

  1. Wait and see
  2. Affect the future ourselves
  3. Pray (or “hope” 8D)
  4. All of the above

I’m going with 4.

“The future will be Blu if nobody does anything to stop it.”

Yes, martini, I understand that change is inevitable. I come from a very techno-savvy family, and my dad loves getting new gadgets - but I am a college student with an income of about $150 a week. Granted, I live in a dorm, and most of my needs are taken care of by my tuition, but there is no way that I can afford a Blu-Ray player and HDTV. Neither can my parents, who just bought a house. I get the feeling that they have not completely thought out how this is going to affect the average movie buff (and my family and I definitely fall into this category).

From what I’ve seen, petitions don’t exactly do much, except for one petition I took part in, which resulted in a letter from The Powers That Be saying that because they never negotiated video release rights, they can’t release the series on DVD.

I’ll only worry when DVDs are no longer produced and become obsolete. I still use VHS to this day- DVDs made it easier but Blu Ray is just better definition, when it’s the plot in the film that I pay for, not because it’s so detailed. I know it makes the experience nicer but honestly it’s just a movie. :unamused:
