In 2009...

Okay, this might be a little early… but what does Pixar have in store for us in

2009?

Let us review:

Ratatouille: Summer

Wall-E: Summer

Toy Story 3: (most likely summer)

Sooo… nothing yet for 2009. What could it be?

A

Sequel?
This is a fun option. Most of Pixar’s films have plenty of story options for sequels.

I’d like to see a Monsters 2.

A Whole New Movie?
Well, the door is wide

open here.

A Creative Break?

Maybe Pixar doesn’t have anything for this

year, their just taking some time off. After all, they just began this once a year schedule. Or, maybe the movies

coming up (the ones we do know about) cost alot and Pixar is just taking a breather?

Your thoughts?

Well I don?t think Pixar would do two sequels

in a row do you?, but maybe just maybe 2009 is when Brad Bird?s live-action film will come out, or just they

don?t have anything planed for 2009 at all.

Hmm – good question. I have also noticed the 2009 gap, but I for one believe it’s

there for a reason…

Firt of all, Pixar Animation Studios has a lot of stuff in their hands and plenty

of new and interesting presentations to shell out. They’ve got Ratatouille, which

is coming out in just a little over three months. Then they have their debut of WALL-E in 2008, which will blow

everyone’s pants off. And, of course, we can’t forget the long-awaited release of Toy Story

3. All of these you have named, as I can see.

Problem is, there most likely

is a reason why we haven’t heard of any 2009 projects that Pixar has in store for

us, and this is probably due to the fact that they need some time to work on their

other films. They’re already placing the finishing whiskers on the last of their

Ratatouille characters, and they are definitely working hard on

WALL-E at the moment, leaving no time to continue with any other projects. Also (and

judging by the fact that it takes Pixar 4-5 years to make a feature film), they’re gonna need some space to make

room for Toy Story 3 as well, including new character development, story, and

overall rigging/computer animation. Et cetera…et cetera…

Keep in mind that they also have to whip up

a new Ratatouille trailer for us, a WALL-E teaser, and

new short films to go along with their features, as well.

So there you have it! We’ll get the

Ratatouille dvd in 2009, as well as some other Disney films as well, probably.

But yeah – waiting sucks. :stuck_out_tongue:

Mitch- Exactly. A creative

break.

I hate to think of Pixar not having enough money (Their part of disney after all), but I’ve heard

it’s hard to do sequels, or in Toy Story’s case, triquels. This is because it cost alot to bring back the same

actors. I hope not, but do you think Pixar needs some time to offset the money they are/are going to spend on

Toy Story 3?

Gasduude- A Monsters, Inc. 2 would just be…incredible. Definitely. I mean, it has

to be done at some point! But I have to agree with the general consensus that 2009 might be Pixar’s year off-

they do deserve it, and it’ll be a good oppurtunity to really get stuck into their current projects.

I was gonna start a thread for a new link Dash found, but

I think it would fit perfectly into this one.

This link gives us previews of future films, including

Ray Gunn.

And JV,

this is where I got my new sig.

~~=oP

Toy Story 3 was annouced for 2009 not to long

ago, and then got changed to 2010 so- maybe they will finally make The Incredibles 2 for a 2009 release? Maybe

something entirely new? They haven’t done many sequels anyway, so that seems more likely. Taking a break? Well,

Steve Jobs has said that Pixar’s goal is to release one film per year, so on one hand, that seems good. On the

other, bad.

Bill

 • As I said before I don’t think Pixar would do two sequels in a row, but you never know.

PixarVixen

 • Nice site! I’m gonna go there constantly now…

So that’s where you got your signature picture from.

I could have sworn you created it yourself.

Well, the Pixar team don’t necessarily have to make one

film per year. So I’d say a creative break.

My

thought is that the year 2009 is going to be their break year, like most of you said. Like in the year 2005,

Pixar did not release a movie.

TSS- Well, yes. But remember they were on an 18 month cycle then, right? Don’t get

me wrong, I think it’s a creative break too, but that was different from 2005.

And Cars was originally

scheduled for release for November 2005, but got switched to June 9.

Well I would assume that since TS3 was originally gonna

be out in 2009, that they dont have anything coming out that year. Which is fine. they’ll probably take a bit of

a break. Putting out movies year after year must be draining.

Well, I believe they had a reason for not releasing anything in 2005. I guess they

wanted something agreed with Disney first before releasing Cars.

TSS- You know

what? I think your right now. Wasn’t it something to do with Chicken Little?

And the fact that Cars was going to be Pixar’s last potential movie with

Disney? I guess the long wait was to get something settled again.

According to new information, Andrew Stanton will direct John Carter of Mars will Bob Peterson as

co-director. Pete Doctor is credited with story, and it is scheduled for a release in, you guessed it, 2009.

Where did you find that? IMDb?

Yeah. it was IMDb…
