In case of Zombies...

Hi all.

I got bored yesterday so I decided to draw up a plan in case the world was suddenly overrun with ravenous zombies. As you do…

Obviously this is just bit of fun, but it would be cool to see what other people would do in case of a zombie apocoplypse…

Here’s my plan:

• Step 1: Escape
-As soon as the zombie threat comes to attention go out and procure vital supplies. Long lasting food, shotguns, chainsaws, the usual anti-zombie stuff. Also obtain some plant pots and edible plant seeds/bulbs.
-Steal a salt water purifier and a petrol siphon.
-Siphon petrol out of as many cars as possible and store in some sort of container, an oil drum probably.
-Steal a car, preferably one with lots of storage space and which is big enough to mow down hordes of zombies.
-Drive to the nearest port leading to the sea. Along the way pick up any survivors you find who have useful skills.
-Once you reach the shore siphon the petrol out of your car and steal a boat, possibly two depending on how many people you’ve got with you. Load the boats with you supplies.
-Drive the boats to the nearest offshore oil rig on the reasoning that there are probably no zombies there and if there are there won’t be many.
-Rescue any engineers/scientists on the oil rig and set up base there.

• Step 2: Survive
-Prepare the Oil RIg as a base of operations, possibly give it a catchy name, like ‘Esperanto’. Reverse engineer the salt water purifier and build a large scale version for water. Set up a garden area protected from the salt to grow plants. Fish for meat.
-Set up a permenant radio signal on all frequencies to attract other survivors.
-Set up defenses in case of flying or swimming zombie strains.
-Spend a couple of years desgning and building a fractional distillation unit to turn crude oil into fuel. Also construct flame-throwing weapons.
-If many survivors turn up the Oil Rig might need expanding, also extra boats might need to be built.
-Once the fractional distiller is working you’re ready for step 3.

• Step 3: Live
-If the Oil Rig had a helicopter all well and good, fly it and some boats to the nearest space centre, if not just use boats.
-Use flame weapons to clear out any zombies from the space centre, rescue any scientists who are still alive in bunkers.
-Build up the space centres defenses, several concentric rings of fences, a large wall, preferably some turrets.
-Set up a radio signal here to draw in any land based survivors.
-Begin research and development in both space flight and terraforming.
-Periodically purge zombies with flame throwers and carpet bombs from the helicopter.
-Move base of operations from Oil Rig to Space Centre, keep Oil Rig functioning as a fall-back point and set up a pipe line for fuel.
-Develop terraforming drones and send to moon in rudimentary rocket.
-Wait until moon is capable of sustaining life.
-Fly expeditiary team to moon to set up base.
-Once moonbase is complete send survivors up in stages. Simultaneously send terraforming probes to Mars.
-Once all survivors have been relocated to the moon life can be gotten back together.
-If overcrowding becomes a problem on the moon, repeat process on Mars.

As you can see this is something of a long term strategy…
What would you do?

Haha, you’ve definitely thought this through, Halos Nach Tariff! Does make you think though, what with the Swine Flu about…I wonder if that’s going to be as bad as people are saying it will?

Anyway, in the short term I’d probably just try to get my family and friends to a safe place, assuming that the government or whoever has constructed safe bases or something of that sort. But if they haven’t, then I guess it depends on the weaknesses of the zombies involved…Travelling to a remote island somewhere, also where you can grow your own food and live sustainably, would be a good idea I think. Not sure about the long term though, will have to think about that.

From what i’ve heard the swine flu isn’t as bad as they thought and is no worse then the original Flu season that occurs every spring and fall. The only reason people have died is because they are Mexican. There have been many cases in America but no deaths…

Yeah, that’s what I heard too.

Of course it always pays to be careful, apparently someone from my college has just come back from Mexico and they won’t late her back in until she’s done some quarantine time.
