Yes.
Plus I’m glad they’re making more female characters now.

Don’t know what to think about this since were a couple years away until release.
You have NOOOOOOO idea how excited that single-sentence excerpt has made me now. No idea. I have this image in my head now of the great potential that could come from this film, but I can also see it being taken in so many different directions.
I know what you mean ^^.
I wonder if the character will be a little girl or an older one.
I hope older, if it was a little girl, I seem the film maybe being a little girly, I think it will have less of a chance id that happens.
I don’t know about the girly thing. I think you can make a film about a very young girl and make it not girly.
But beyond that, I also hope she’s older, but for different reasons. If this film is about the stuff that’s going on in her mind, then there’s more chance to make interesting things to happen if she’s not so young.
When I told my mother about it that’s what she asked.
I just hope they have the common sense to cast all the emotions female as well. If they’re going to be going inside a girl’s mind, they better go all the way and not fall back on the “default” gender for casting inanimate objects.
I’d love to see Elissa Knight get another big voice role.
I wouldn’t mind a little girl, but maybe bad things could happen, like perhaps she’s losing a parent, and the emotion characters have to deal with it.
I wonder if Pete’s daughter was an inspiration to him of having it take place in a girl’s mind.
Uh! Docter is good at that. Maybe he can make something as emotional as Up.
Well, look at Bonnie from Toy Story 3: I wouldn’t consider her scenes in the movie to be overly “girly,” but maybe neutral if anything.
I’ve also wondered what kind of emotions will be dealt with and how old the character will be. I’d probably be happy with any age. One could say that an older girl could be more dimensional, but younger girls would be equally fascinating to explore the motions of. Just look at Hayao Miyazaki; some of his most interesting characters haven’t even hit puberty yet and yet they’re full of dimension, but done in a realistic way (Mei is super young!). Even though the emotions will be “characters,” I hope the rest of the story has little to no elements of fantasy, kind of like the first chunk of Up before Carl makes the balloon house.
You’ve referenced another reason why I want her to be older: Pixar has already had its share of cute little girls. Want to see them attempting something different.
I think Pete can handle it well either way (old or young).
Maybe the film will go through the girl’s whole life, from childhood to adult.
^ That’s an interesting thought, actually.
Agreed! Like I said, I’ll be happy with either.
I don’t know. I would really only count Bonnie and Boo as the significant little (human) girls, but maybe I could also consider Dot. Violet Parr and the upcoming Princess Merida are roughly teenagers. So I think the number of older and younger girls are about equal?
Well, I was not limiting the thing to human girls only, so they have a fine share. Anyway, even if you only count Boo and Bonnie, they’re the most important ones, of any age.
And yes, Violet is too old to be deemed as a little girl, but she’s still a kid, so she doesn’t fit in the age group I was talking about.
We don’t know Merida’s age so far, but she seems to not be an adult yet, so she doesn’t count either.
I would like to see Pixar make a film with a lead female character at least every few years, give the girls more of a chance.
So what exactly are you looking for, then?
