I really hope this is in the right forum, and that this topic hasn’t been brought up before. I’m new here so I’m not really sure…
But I’m currently in college learning 3D animation. I was given an assignment to have an interview with someone that works in the industry. Since my dream is to work at Pixar I would love to get an interview with someone from there.
I was wondering if anyone knew if this would be possible to do. I know it’s a long shot, but if you have any ideas on it please let me know.
Thanks very much, any information is helpful for me.
Don’t know if you’ll be able to get an in person interview, but I was able to interview Victor Navone (Pixar animator) via email for one of my classes. I too am in college studying animation.
My advice: if you have the contact information for whoever you want to interview, just ask! The worst that can happen is they say no. Who are you thinking of interviewing?
Hahaha, actually, it doesn’t need to be in person. I live in Canada, so it might be difficult if I tried that. But my teacher had suggested using phone, email, a messenger program, or facebook to interview them. Whichever was easier for them really.
See, the problem is I didn’t know how to go about finding the contact information. I was thinking David DeVan, Stephen Gregory or Andrew Gordon, but quite honestly I’d be happy to get an interview with any of the Pixar animators. I think they’re all wonderful.
Well, I suppose it would be hard for you to do it in person! This site should help with Stephen Gregory and Andrew Gordon as they are two of the five who run the site: navone.org/
If there are others you may want to ask, try finding their personal website (if they have one) and there is usually some sort of contact info.
The more you ask, the better as some are bound to be too busy. Good luck!
Well, sorry if this bursts your bubble, but on the Pixar FAQ page, it says this:
Question: “I am working on a school project. Can I interview someone from Pixar or will you please send me materials that I can use as part of a presentation?”
Answer: “We receive a large number of requests for information in connection with student projects, and unfortunately are not able to respond to each one individually. This web site, however, contains answers to many of the most commonly asked questions about Pixar, our employees, the work that is done at our studio, and information about the animation industry as a whole.”
But I suppose it’s always worth a try, especially if you go for one of the lesser known and busy Pixarians… Try their official websites or blogs to contact whoever you’re after.
