The Simpsons cancel proof?

I was looking at The Simpsons the other day, and I wondered if the show will ever end. They have already gone 21 seasons and are still going. I hope they go on forever.

Forever? Eh…I didn’t see much of the old stuff, but the new stuff ranges one “okay” for me and most people say its gotten a heck of lot worse. 21 years, in my opinion, is too long. People run out of ideas and the scenarios and characters get old.

There is a rumor The Simpsons will end in 2014 while the final season starts in late 2013. But that’s only a rumor.

That is true.

Well, I’m pleased that it’s gone on for a long time, but, yes, even a series like The Simpsons can go on for too long. The general consensus is that their new stuff, although still good, is nowhere near on the same sort of level as some of their older stuff, so it’ll have to be cancelled sometime. Good things don’t last forever, as they say.

I’m expecting them to have a miserable seasons 24 and 25 and finally stop there. Possibly.

Well, the old saying goes that all good things must come to an end. When will The Simpsons end? If if ever will? Only God and time know the answer to that.

Anybody know about The Cleveland Show? A spin-off from Family Guy?

If The Simpsons does end someday, and people are in morning for it, the creators can try a spin-off. For who, what, when, and why is up to them, but at least it is an idea.
Yes, yes, I know that most spin-offs pale in comparision to the original, but still, idea.

Maybe a Milhouse spin-off? Or Apu? There’s just too many characters in Springfield. The possiblities are endless…

The Simpsons, I must ask you one question; Why won’t you just… die? Isn’t it enough I have to endure you every weekday at 6 pm on Channel Ten. You used to be cool (my favourite show at one point, in fact), but after a mediocre feature film and the latest seasons becoming too much like your imitator Family Guy (HD quality broadcast, crappy quality scripts), you’ve gone way past your prime. Please write your final line on the chalkboard, run through the doorway one more time, and jump your last jump into the family sofa and just… die.

Nah, just kidding. No offense to fans, I actually don’t ‘mind’ their presence, but like most members here, I must say they’re getting a bit long in the tooth. If they ever were to go out, though, I want it to be with a bang.

I’m not sure if cancelled would be the right word. Cancelled means that the show could end abruptly without warning. That would happen if FOX didnt see The Simpsons as profitable anymore. I would think though that it is more likely that Matt Groening will decide to end it himself. You know, with a big series finale and all that. It’s going to end at some point. All shows do eventually. Even ones that have been around for 50 years.

I think that even if the show ended, it wouldn’t end forever.

I would expect re-runs roughly during the regular time, after it ended, and then it shown during the ungodly hours of the morning.

But, yes, it would go out with a bang.

The Simpsons is like Brett Favre: If it goes away, it comes back.

Greatest thing I’ve heard all day.

Thanks, thewisecookiesheet! I just thought of it on the fly!

As far as right now, yes, it is. With ratings as high as it obtains, they would be dumb to cancel it. But, like any other show, it will begin to slack and slowly work its way off the air.

Begin to slack? It started that years ago.

Not to the point of cancelation, though. Family Guy has began to slack as well, but you don’t see them getting pulled off the air either.

After so long a show will run out of things to cover and do. At this point in time, they’ve done all they can, and they are pretty much just bs’ing there way through.

The Simpsons will never be cancelled, it will end when the creator feels it’s time to stop. The show means too much to Fox for them to ever cancel it. The ratings are some of the best Fox gets, the characters are beyond profitable and The Simpsons is really what put Fox on the map and helped them become the big name TV company they are today. Fox will have no say in the ending of the Simpsons, it will be all Groening.

The Simpsons is my favorite show and I do agree that it has been lacking in recent years and definently hit it’s prime in the mid-90’s, but I’d be a liar if I wasn’t to say that even the worst episode of the Simpsons is better than anything else on on Sunday nights.

There actually were plans for a Simpsons spin-off, allegedly known as “Tales From Springfield”, but it fell through long ago. The closest you’ll probably ever get to it now is the Season 7 episode “22 Short Films About Springfield”.
