I’m in love with Cars. But in all good relationships, there are flaws, and I think Cars has a few of them,
especially in the beginning of the film.
First, I agree with DElf4242, and the pop-culture references,
especially to Jay Limo and Arnold, need to go. I also don’t really like Lightning McQueen’s dream sequences.
Second, I think the “Life is a Highway” scene through when Lightning gets lost is a few minutes too
long. I don’t like the gangster cars. I just with there was another way for Lightning McQueen to get lost.
Third, I’ve fallen asleep in the “Community service” scene when Lightning is just complaining about
how bad Radiator Springs is. I think the film portrays Lightning as a egotistic, conceited car in the first act
well enough. Last, Cars has way more credited screenwriters than any other Pixar film, some that I’ve never
heard of. Some of the one-liners in the film seem to be the result of Pixar trying to cram everybody’s ideas
into one.
That said, I rank Cars close to the top of my favorite Pixar films of all time, behind The
Incredibles and Finding Nemo. My life would still never be complete without Pixar’s Cars.
