According to The Sun, Jamie Oliver, known as The Naked Chef and for his campaign to improve the quality of school dinners, will be taking over the role of the Health Inspector from Tony Fucile for the UK release of Ratatouille.
Like getting the British Car Expert Jeremy Clarkson to voice a role in Cars, they’re now getting a famous British Chef to voice a role in Ratatouille. What are your thoughts? Is this indeed Pukka?
Seriously? Jamie Oliver? I can understand what he’s been trying to do with school dinners and everything, but that guy just plain annoys me. I guess that explains all of the ‘healthy food’ Ratatouille posters I’ve seen around, as well- I must’ve counted about eight of them so far at our school.
I guess I can understand why they’ve asked him to do this, but I think the main criteria of whether or not it’s a good idea is if his voice actually suits the character. If Jamie Oliver is convincing, then fair enough.
Has he even done proper acting before? Hope he does a good job for the voice anyway. I guess i’ll find out on Sunday as i’ve good free tickets to see Ratatouille, before its proper release
Got a spare ticket going if anyone near Basingstoke wants to go.
Well, I think the guy is fine! I used to watch his show, Oliver’s Twist, on Food Network all the time. T’was quite surprised when I found out that he’s still in the entertainment business, I was. I listened to the part where he plays the health inspector, and he sounds fine. Good for him. (snigger)
Okay don’t laugh, but I mentally “cast” Jamie Oliver as the British bat character in my Thumbelina fanfic years ago…I really like his voice and I’m stoked that he’s actually doing animation voiceovers! I just think that’s neat.
kageri- I guess it’s the same case as it was with Cars- in the British version, they’ve just used a different actor to voice this part instead of the original actor used in the American and other versions. It’s probably just a publicity thing on Jamie Oliver’s part.
To be honest, I didn’t even notice that it was him when I watching the film. I’ll pay more attention tomorrow.
