Jane and the Dragon

Come on, who’s heard of it?
This has quickly become one of my favorite cartoons. The storylines are great, the animation beautiful and the characters memorable.

For those who do not know, Jane and the Dragon is based of a series of books by New Zealand author Martin Baynton. It follows the life of Jane as she trains to be a knight, and the adventures she has with her friends Dragon and the other castle staff.
And is animated by folk at Weta Workshop (the folks best known from the Lord of the Rings).

So who’s seen it and what do you think?
I can not be the only fan.

I think that cartoon only shows in the Austrailian region. I have never heard of it before.

You now what, it very slightly rings a bell somewhere in my past… I seem to recall listening to a series of audio tapes on the story, although I never did see the cartoons themselves.

Yeah – I’ll have to look into that. Thanks for bringing it up again! I almost forgot about it.

The Star Swordsman: it did originally air in Canada and Australia, but it has aired over in America and the UK.

Mitch: s`ll right

Hmm, sorry, I haven’t seen or heard of it before. Is it recent or an oldie?

The Star Swordsman: Recent

Oh I’ve heard of it! I watch it on Saturday mornings  I must agree with you, the animation and story lines are remarkable. I’ve actually just recently found it while flipping channels, it’s much better than the other things they show in the morning.

Yeah, I’ve seen these! Pretty good… :sunglasses:

If I’m not mistaken, it’s on NBC’s “qubo” saturday morning lineup, right after Veggie Tales.

Plus, WETA digital, the company behind the effects in LOTR, did the motion capture. So that’s why it’s as “pretty” as it is! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve seen that show! I didn’t know it was animated by WETA though. :sunglasses:

Alot of the time it (J&tD) doesn’t get as much credit as it deserves since it’s usally on during really kiddy shows. or atleast it is here in Australia.
People really do not know what they are missing out on.

Indeed. They use motion capture as a majour in their animating process.

I’ve heard of it. NBC has it on either Saturday or Sunday mornings. I’ve never seen it though cuz it’s with all those kiddie shows that I dont watch either… So I cant comment on it really.

I think I’ve seen commercials for it. It should be on a network called ION where I am.

Is it that good ?

PixarPixie: I would say yes
