Japanese Super Alloy Buzz Lightyear

A Super Alloy Buzz Lightyear has been made by Bandai Japan and was released 26th March. Super Alloy are die-cast metal robots sold in Japan, famous for its high quality and heaviness (due to metal used instead of plastic), and are super collector’s items in japan and asia. For more information about Super Alloy, please check: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chogokin

Although Buzz Lightyear in toy story is made of plastic but not metal, this highly detailed figure is still a very wanted collector’s item for toy story fans. You can change its facial expression and hand posture. Due to its highly articulated joints, he can pose more freely than normal Buzz Lightyears you can get in local stores. What’s more is that, there’s “Andy” written on its right foot!! Also included is the buzz lightyear menu (the one hid by bookworm), buy n large cells, and the red rose for spanish dance. Enjoy the pictures!!

Pics aren’t working, but I’m interested. Looks like Buzz might finally get some terrilium carbonic alloy wings.

Fix this, jeez, is it that hard to post pics?

is it not working for all of you? for some reasons it worked on my macbook… anyway, u guys can view the pictures from here: tw.myblog.yahoo.com/kjt19732002/ … ?mid=11882

Calm down…

Anyway, that looks really cool, but probably way too expensive. Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah I checked on several websites, this buzz is worth $110+. I don’t think I will be spending that much, even though its so cool with all the features. Anyhow, I saw in the pictures that his wings are too short. Do they only extend that much?

Thanks for the link, it looks pretty spectacular. They were really going for a definitive, below scale Toy Story 3 Buzz. It’s a very nice sculpt, and it looks like they even tried to include his toy-mode face (the one he uses in the original Toy Story). The articulation is great, reminds me of the Revoltech figure. Miniscule details, like the wrist communicator, decals, battery compartment, and his helmet clip were included.
Some negatives I noticed were:
-The squares cut out in his arms and legs (don’t know what that’s for)
-The arms look a little long to enhance poseability
-I’m assuming the wings come out all the way, but there’s no pics…
-It probably would’ve just been easier to give him poseable fingers
Still, the helmet goes all the way back, and that’s something that’s never been done. I’d personally stick with the Revoltech figure for price, but if you find a deal, this’d be worth it.

I dont think the helmet goes all the way inside, it’s just removable

Geez, it looks fantastic. This image cracked me up: f23.yahoofs.com/myper/wMc_cK.ZGg … NBxbQbEDmK

I’m amused by how red his cheeks are, actually. 8D The different expressions are great.

the wings do go all the way out

Holy…wow!

I do have some issues with it, mainly how overly red cheeks. but its nice to see someone finally tackle proper arm articulation with him (he’ll still never be able to reach his laser though, lol). obviously the arms have to come out of their sockets for the more extreme poses, but I believe pixar themselves had to do this in the movies, they were just careful not to ever show them from camera angles that would make it obvious. I wonder how much, if any of this could be used to modify the TSC buzz. even if all I could take from it was the wrists that would be great. One thing that bothers me about this, and TSC is guilty of it too, is how large the gaps in the hinges are. Ive seen toys with much smaller gaps, so I’m pretty sure its possible. I’m guessing larger gaps just make them more durable in the long run.

I don’t see me being able to afford anything like this though. I wish they would incorporate some of this into the thinkway buzz though. I never asked for him to be made of metal, but I’m drooling over a lot of these features.

Edit: I believe those squares are used to seal up the two halves. just my guess. and yeah, I doubt the helmet goes all the way back. its just physically impossible.
And does this have any electronics?

Gonna point this out because I’m not sure everyone realizes it, but this guy is only 6 inches tall, thus not even close to scale.

He’d be great if he was bigger though.

Even if it’s impossible, they still show him with his helmet down, and the end is sticking out like it does in the movie. Again, even if they “cheated” at least it’s authentic.
I don’t think it’s electronic, but it doesn’t really matter on something this small.
