Japanese Wall-E Site, Trailer

Disney Japan now has a section of their website devoted to Wall-E (it opens in Japan in less than a month, on December 5th). You can see the trailer in Japanese.

disney.co.jp/movies/wall-e/index.html

Kind of like the US trailers, but a little different. Text at the beginning says “29th Century Earth.” I won’t go through the whole thing, but the usual stuff… his name is Wall-E, he’s all alone, he’s not a normal robot, his #1 dream is to have someone to hold hands with, and then one day… talks about his “first love”, his journey, Eve and the fate of the Earth, from the director of Finding Nemo, text later at bottom says “America’s #1 Big Hit.” The blue text at the end is like “Because he’s always been ALONE… he’s always wanted to be TOGETHER (with someone)” and the last screen says “Opening December.”

Some of the music sounds different (when he’s looking at the plant, and the very end of the trailer).

You can re-play it by clicking the little box in the lower-left of the screen a few seconds later.

The little white square to the bottom-right (with red letters) says “Opening December 5th, Subtitled version / Japanese-dubbed version”

In the trailer they left the “voices” the same, though I’m assuming they’ll change even the robot voices for the Japanese dub print.

If you click on the “ENTER” in the upper-right, it takes you to a different “Wall-E” section, which looks like the old US “Wall-E” site, with pictures, games, etc.

The Japanese always make the coolest trailers, with sometimes better music, too (maybe not in this case when compared to the US trailer music, but most of the time.). I like how the voice over guy said “WALL•E” (WO-DEE) and “EVE” (EBU). The part where WALL•E is watching the movie and clasping his hands, they made that part so sad…Where did the “intruder alert” words come from - 'cause they certainly didn’t have that in the movie! Made even more bizarre, that I’m not even sure most Japanese people would know what those words even meant (would they?) I thought they gave away too many plot points in this trailer, though.

Thanks for the heads-up, joehisa! It’s always interesting seeing the different trailers made for other markets. =)

The music just seems so dramatic! I love it. Unlike some of the other trailers, the Japanese one seems to really focus on the love side of things, as opposed to the action. It was just like a little summary of the film (discluding the ending, obviously).

Don’t know about the whole ‘intruder alert’ thing, Rachel. It did seem rather out of place and random in this trailer.

Thanks for the link and explanation, joehisa.
