Jessie's prototype?

I saw a DVD menu for TS2 in my local Sam’s. The DVD was used to show off the TV’s capabilities.

There are several sketches on screen, passing across the screen, one of which being what I can only guess was one of Jessie’s early incarnations- a blonde Barbie type cowgirl doll.

I kind of wish we’d been able to see that too. There were talking Barbie size dolls just a few years later (1968) youtube.com/watch?v=HXnalXaE … re=related -Omar

The earliest Jessie incarnation was a cactus. Can you imagine the Buzz and Jessie relationship if that stuck? xD

Haha, you just put a really creepy thought into my head.

Yeah I’ve seen that- Woody, Prospector, a smaller cowboy and a talking cactus.

Poor Buzz. -Omar

That cactus idea would be…unsafe for Buzz, I think.

I had the impression that proto-type Jessie was simply Jessie, but with blonde pig-tails instead of a red braid.

From the few sketches I’ve seen, it appears that Jessie was always intended to be a rag-doll, but the original had blonde hair (and I think slightly different clothes as well as a lassoo), whereas Jessie ended up with red hair.

I like Jessie just the way we got her.

Jessie is beautiful. Most awesome red-head I’ve ever seen, and red is my favorite hair tone, followed by brunette(Elastigirl  ).

The original idea for Jessie was Senorita Catcus, yes. xDD

No, the cactus is just an unreleated extra character from the Roundup Gang. I’d imagine that Jessie didn’t change much from how she was first invisioned, as it was John Lasseter’s wife who suggested a strong female character.

Buzz having a crush on a cactus? That’d be a prickly situation.

^ Lol!!

Yes, t’would be a sticky relationship indeed…

@Pixiedust: that image is just great

You rock, xPixiexDustx! 8D

Hey, lame jokes FTW! What? Why are you all staring at me like that? :stuck_out_tongue:

You win, PixiexDust! In response to that photo - touche. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s alright, Phileas. Your avatar wins.

Hhahahaaha, thanks for that amazing pun!

:open_mouth: … Well, glad they didn’t go with THAT! Is there any concept art of this? It’s giving me amusing fanart possibilites

Senorita Cactus:

It sounds like she was going to be more of a “villain” who would work with the Prospector and attempt to seduce Woody into going to Japan with the Woody’s Roundup collection.

I’m glad they decided to go with a heroic cowgirl instead of a femme fatale cactus.

Yep, here’s one piece of concept art:
