Who just loves this actor?!

My opinions on Jim Carrey are varied. I do like him in some of his funnier roles, like the cable guy, dumb and dumber…even ace ventura if i’m in the right mood.

But a lot of these movies where the premise seems to be ā€œSomething has happened to jim carrey for a dayā€ don’t really appeal to me that much.

However, I love Man on the moon, the cable guy, Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, The truman show…and i’m sure that there are a few others!

Jim is definitely one of the greatest actors of our time. He never fails to make me laugh!

This clip of him on Letterman is classic, especially if you’ve seen CSI:Miami a few times.

I like Jim Carrey, especially in his latest film, Yes Man. I laughed so hard in that movie!

I like Mr. Carrey. He is pretty skilled at comedy. Most of his movies really made me laugh, but I was disappointed with others.

I voted that he’s goofy though I disagree about him being able to be serious. Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine were great movies.

He’s goofy but he can be really serious. Those who say he can’t obviously haven’t seen him in dramatic roles and therefore would have no say in the matter. :stuck_out_tongue:

He actually suffers from chronic depression, like a lot of comedians do.

meh, it depends, the cable guy is good, he was really good in bruce almighty, but in other films he was OK.

I like Jim Carrey as an actor and a comedian overall. Sometimes he gets a bit overbearing though. Aside from some of his live action film roles, I really enjoyed his voice talent as Horton in Horton Hears a Who.

That was a great clip, JesusFreak! Thanks for sharing!

On the one hand, I wish he could do more varied stuff, but on the other hand there’s only one Jim Carrey in the world, and I think it’s fair to say he’s one of the funniest actors of our time. I love most of the films he’s been in, even if his on-screen persona can seem a bit samey, because he’s always brilliant and you can tell he puts a lot of effort into his work.

Can’t say I’m a big fan but I have seen a lot of his movies…love his really stupid, childish movies like Ace Ventura, Dumb & Dumber as well The Mask, Liar, Liar and a few of his serious ones like Eternal Sunshine (one of my most faves) and Truman Show. But not so much others…and the last couple he’s had, I’ve had absolutely no desire to see…

I did think he was brilliant in ā€œIn Living Color!ā€ Firemarshall Bill, lol

Jim Carey is funy on occasions. SOme of his jokes are weak, but some of them are complete killers

Jim Carrey is a comedic master! He is a genious at facial expressions and movement. My friend and I do Grinch impressions all the time, we’re like Jim Carrey’s fan girls haha. Anyway, he’s a champion.

I really like Jim Carrey, he’s a sick guy, up their with my favourite actors, i think he’s one of a kind by how he acts.

When I was a kid I used to be a big Jim Carrey fan cause of movies like The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, and Batman Forever (the first of the Joel Schumacher sequels that everyone now says started the death of the original movie franchise). Funny thing is I was way too young to be watching them back then since they were all PG-13, but my parents let me watch them anyway cause they weren’t very careful with some of the things they let me be exposed to. Jim may have been very popular in those movies back then, but he was not meant for kids.

To me, there were only two movies starring him worth watching: ā€œDumb and Dumberā€ (which, unfortunately, seems to have set a standard for the worse), and the 2000 version of Dr. Seuss’ ā€œHow the Grinch Stole Christmasā€ (he played the Grinch!).

Similarly, did anyone know he ALSO starred in a completely serious thriller!? :open_mouth: Search for ā€œThe Number 23ā€.

Yeah, seconded. I was always really impressed with his performance in The Truman Show.

Of his goofier stuff, I can’t help but laugh at Dumb and Dumber (I’m only human after all), but The Cable Guy was a little too creepy for my tastes (oh, I enjoy a good skin-crawling flick as much as the next person, but TCG was clearly intended to be a black comedy, and I didn’t find it funny at all.)

I liked him as Count Olaf.
