Long story short: Joe Ranft’s Wife Susan accepted the award in his stead. It’s an
award given to those who succesfully work the Disney magic.
Couldn’t think of a better candidate myself!

Pixar should be extremely proud of him, as I expect they are.
Way to go, Joe. You are positively worthy of that award.

I was in awe after reading that article. My heart was crying for him, his family and
friends.
That’s simply… wonderful. Not to sound heartless, but
a fair amount of posthumous awards that have been given throughout the history of award-giving probably wouldn’t
have been given had the person not died; Joe’s award is as well-deserved as can be, though, and I’m willing to
bet he would have gotten it either way. You’re appreciated and remembered, and always will be, Joe.

what you are saying and I kind of agree with you. But at the same time, I believe Joe was a perfect recipient,
wheter or not he died.
See, that’s the point I thought DELf
was making: that Joe deserved and probably would have received the award regardless of the fact that he
(tragically) died.
