Judging The Movie By Its Cover

Today I was chatting with some dude that went to my school sometime (not my friend anymore because of what he did) And he told me he couldn’t help but being on Habbo Hotel all 24 hours (may be exagerating) And I told him he should do something better like go to the movies and watch Ratatouille. He started cracking up and told me how the movie sucked, that it was really stupid and that it was for babies. I tried to get him out of that idea explaining Ego’s review and how it had a sentimental value to the film and that it certainly is not for babies, but he kept telling me how it was ugly and called me a baby because I went to see it. Lucky I didn’t tell him I went 7 times, though… He would have called me uglier names.

And so I blocked the guy and never spoke to him again. How can he judge Ratatouille by its cover? I’ll show him Ego’s review and see what he thinks :imp:

Well, it’s a said fact. Many of today’s teenagers and adults simply think animation is just for young ones. Which is entirely untrue.

I think part of the problem is the creation of this “adult” entertainment. I’m not talking about anything vulgar; just that most adults (and many teenagers, unfortunately) believe watching violent or “rough” films and tv shows is just a part of growing up… :unamused:

What can you say? Don’t let that get you down! If you love it, then you love it. You ain’t a baby for watching it seven Times. Pixar creates films for everyone. NOt just for kids. So if he hates it, let him. That shouldn’t stop you from hating it.

It’s just the fact that most humans can be ignorant.

Yeah, I’m with everybody else on this. Don’t judge a book by its cover, especially when you’ve never read the book. Heh. One man’s trash is another man’s treausre, I say. I guess the dude in question just likes trash more… (snigger)

I’m gonna side with The Star Swordsman here and say…don’t let it get you down! You’re a fan; you know ze truth! Heheh…

Like Gasduude stated, there is a kind of “trend” that floats around movie-goers’ minds more often than not, unfortunately. Films such as Ratatouille are considered to be children’s flicks, even though that is most certainly not the case in this situation; teenagers often race for entertainment involving action and suspense*; adults, on the other hand, go for the hard-core stuff, but it altogether depends on the adult in question and whether or not that dude (or dudette) is more interested in cartoons or horror/action/romantic productions.

Yeah. Ratatouille is a magnificent film and it’s going to stay that way for as long as I live and longer. As for anyone who thinks otherwise: Well, that’s their problem! :stuck_out_tongue:

*I can bear witness to this. Some years back, my mom and dad conversed with a young lady about the latest movies one afternoon, and the films Pirates of the Caribbean and Master and Commander became entangled in the discussion. The young lady (who must have been twenty or younger, I imagine) confessed that Master and Commander, to her, had a weak plot and was not as exciting or interesting as “Pirates”. “Not as exciting”, my butt! The nerve of these hypocrites… (snigger)

Y’know, I hate when people do that. I mean, why do they give the film/book/whatever-it-is a bad critique if they’ve never experienced it?
Unfortunately, some people I call my friends use to do it… It really hurts me, but I don’t care about what they say… :unamused:

When someone teases me about liking Ratatouille (only happened once so far) i just turned around, look him straight in the eyes, smiled and said “thank you!”

The Star Swordsman - Ha! I’d probably do the same thing…

I know you would. YOu love that movie to death, you would do anything to defend it.

He sounds like a close minded person

Leonarduille, just use a Jedi like move, The Force.
Say, Ratatouilleizthabessmovie. What is the best movie this year?
Pause for a moment, while he is remembering of what you said before the question, and probably, he’s already said in his head, Ratatouille is the best movie. So, you’ve done your job and kept the peace. He may even answer out loud, Ratatouille is the best movie.

Rey - Puh-ha! That’d be funny. Like you’d wave your hand and start muttering…

“You will not speak against this film. You will go to see Ratatouille twenty-five times this month…”

:stuck_out_tongue:

I got another one.
Say AimgonnabyyuuthaArtuvRatatouille, Limited Edition feryuu. What will you buy me?

I’m so doing that when my bday comes

Try not to let it get to you. I can understand how that is. While I’ve never been made fun of for liking Pixar or cartoons at my age, I do understand how you feel. I used to get teased in grade school & junior high for liking the Beatles. Most kids were like “ew, you like old people music? Arent they all dead?” I would sometimes be upset about that because I was like “Have you ever listened to their music? Or do you just hate them because they’re not current? If only you knew how good they are!” Until I got to high school where I found other people who liked them and I learned it was cool to like the Beatles and all those other classic rock groups. So try not to let that guy bother you because he obviously doesnt know what he’s talking about.

There’s always gonna be people like that, not only concerning animated films, but in all walks of life, and at the end of the day, they’re the ones missing out.
