I’m not
sure if you might have heard of this band or not, but I and three other friends went to see Kasabian at Earl’s
Court (London’s biggest venue) last night, and it was incredible. There were at least 60,000 people there, and
having that many people scream out the songs in unison…Just amazing. My ears were ringing for hours afterwards,
and as everyone left the hall, going down the numerous flights of stairs before getting outside, they all
continued singing the tune of the last song. The crowd (mainly compiled of drunk men) spilled out into the
street, walking in the middle of the road and still singing that song!
It was an amazing experience, and
something that I’d definitely like to do again.
So, has anyone here ever had the chance to see a band
they liked, or any band at all, in a large venue, blasting out their music? If so, what has been your favourite
gig so far?

It’s a toss up between Relient K in Hudsonville, MI and Great Big Sea in Cleveland, OH. Okay, so they
weren’t concerts of nearly that scale, but I tend to like bands that attract a lot fewer people. But Great Big
Sea, being much more recent, is closer in my memory. It was fabulous to just go into Cleveland with a handful of
my best friends and sing happy songs together. And it was GBS’s 13th birthday that day, too, which made them
very happy. And they liked Cleveland so much that they made up this fabulous impromptu song about Cleveland, and
how they liked the deli that made sandwiches with chips in them.
But Relient K is coming to Cleveland the
day exams are over next semester, so you’d better believe that concert is going to be my graduation present to
myself. ZOMG. So excited.
Just curious lizardgirl, but who exactly is Kasabian?
DWH- Wow, sounds amazing! Perfect timing to go see them, too.
TSS- I don’t think Kasabian have released anything in America, so you
probably won’t have heard their music. Right now, in England, the music is going through what is being called
the ‘Indie’ phase, which is basically all-male bands with lots of guitars and skinny jeans.
I didn’t
really know Kasabian before my friends told me about them, but I didn’t want to miss up a chance to go to
Earl’s Court, so I just made sure that I listened to their music and got to know them before going.
