Probably only other Australians will understand this, but here’s a cute (and pretty good) animated spoof of the WALL•E trailer based on our new(ish) Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.
I’m not Aussie, but I’ve lived here long enough to know a little of the local politics. [spoil]So Mr Turnbull is his love interest? And Kevin is not particularly enthusiastic, he transforms into a Qantas jet and hightails outta there, Laugh-Out-Loud![/spoil] Did you catch what he said at 0:36, Rachel?
I don’t see how this parody is related to the movie (other than the fact that he’s a ‘machine’ good at churning out catchphrases and is pretty much alone in the political arena) but it’s a pretty good spoof on a popular film that’s out now. Whoever did the simple animation and pretty spot-on voices is brilliant! Wonder which show was it aired on, looks like the SBS channel…
I honestly did laugh out loud when I read that thedriveintheatre!! hehe But very cute spoof indeed and the animation isn’t bad(=
Heh, I agree, likepinatas!
Great find, rachelcakes!
I like how they used Kevin’s glasses to make him look like WALL•E.
The way I interpreted the video was that Kevin Rudd has been doing nothing but saying buzz words to make it seem like he has been changing things, but he is actually scared of the new opposition leader, Malcolm TurnBull, so that’s the reason why he’s been jetting off overseas. Not even sure if the makers of that video have seen the movie, doesn’t seem like it… I think he says “travel” at 36s. My sister said she saw it on Channel 9 on Sunday morning, I didn’t see it but looked it up online after she told me. I guess it was shown on SBS as well…?
