The 2008 Academy Awards opened with a sequence where characters from movies from the last 80 years are all comped together to appear in the same scene. Harry Potter flies by on his broom while Godzilla fights in the background, shortly after John Wayne rode through. Almost seemlessly done in one long, slow shot as the camera moves down the street heading into the Kodak Theater.
The opening seconds feature the camera heading down the street, and coming the other way is Cars’s very own Lightning McQueen, who has the first line: “Turn right to go left…”
Awesome! Unfortuntely I wasnt home to see that but that’s nice he’s was in there and he was first! (are they trying to make up for past blunders by putting him first in a montage? )
I turned to the channel JUST as that was happening. I already had it set up to tape, but when I first turned the TV on, I didn’t SEE Lightning but I did here “Turn right to go left” and I was like “DUDE, that was Owen!!” I thought it was supposed to be Owen as the car’s GPS navigation system.
