Location of Ant Island

I’ve also thought about Texas as the location. I was stationed at Fort Sill in Southwest Oklahoma and often crossed the Red River into Texas. The settings in “A Bug’s Life” look remarkably like the whole Texhoma area. But who would want to set it in Oklahoma when Texas is more popular. Besides, Grasshoppers are too small to fly from their hideout in Mexico to Oregon, but Texas is right there. I was thinking more like Central Texas, between Austin and Kileen. That’s were Ant Island must be.

wow, ilikepinatas, you really like the details!!!

Well in The Pixar Story, they said they had used the 1 inch bug-cam, which they used to get an idea of what an ant’s perspective was, in their own garden… I suppose you could base it off of Pixar’s lawn!

irishman14: That’s genius. I totally forgot about el grasshoppers’ hideout in Mexico. :astonished: You are a genius, dude!

Well, you don’t mess with da geography nerd .:sunglasses:

Where was I when Marlin was trying to find his way to Sydney?

you have good comebacks!

And welcome to the forums!

Thanks. Good to be here.

I’m a geography nut too!

The Spain-bone’s connected to the…France-bone, the France-bone’s connected to the…Swiss-bone…sorry, i love geography. I’m usually not this weird.

B-on-T, i’ve marked a possible location of Ant Island in Google Maps. Want the link?

You can trust me.

I think Ant Island is in London, right in the middle of the city.

Oh no, Tiny URL did it again!! JK JK
From th evidence collected, Ant Island sounds like it IS somewhere in the South West. But again, I don’t think it’s supposed to be any location in particular, just inspired by that location.

Azz:    Why?
Martin: LOL! Yeah, you’re probably right. :frowning: It looks like such a nice place to visit, though… :frowning:

Sure, send it. :sunglasses:

Already did. :sunglasses: Look up

Alright, there it is. That’s a good argument right there. It looks a little over grown but none the less it’s still a decent posibility. Never thought it would be closer to Huston though. I stick with Central Texas, but I won’t rule that one out. Thanks. :sunglasses:

I think some were in Mexico, The olny reason i say that is when hopper and
his gang are sat drinking and eating under the big sombrero hence mexico.

Listen to the DVD Commentary. The hideout in Mexico is derived from when villans in old westerns would hide out across the boarder. :exclamation:

Thry must have flown North towards Ant Island, to Texas.

Oklahoma’s pushin’ it, and Kansas or anything further is too far for a grasshopper, or any bug, to fly. [/list]

I’d have to put it in Arizona somewhere…

I agree with people who say it’s probably somewhere in Texas or Arizona…possibly Mexico or really anywhere down in that area.

Mostly because a good tip-off is definitely the fact that the grasshoppers hang out in an area with cacti plants and they probably can’t fly insanely far.
