Look at this! I can't believe it!

Look at these two

articles you guys. Both are about Pixar’s Ratatouille. The first article asks,

Will Ratatouille Ruin Pixar? And

the second article just made me red hot angry, at the same time, incredibly nervous. In this article,

Ratatouille has been

Preemptively declared a flop I can’t explain how angry I am right now. How

can people say stuff about this? I ask for your opinion about these articles.

(Warning: The second one has

some mild language in it)

Well…those certainly are 2 articles harboring 2 completely opposite opinions. The

one in favor of Ratatouille could’ve done without the vulgarity,

though.

[about Cars]
"…and even the most

hardcore Pixar fans were worried the movie would be their first critical

disaster."

I’ll own up to thinking that way. It was all the fault of the

first Cars trailer. Back then, I knew in time that the final product would be more

polished and well-developed, but I’m sure some people out there didn’t have the same faith in Pixar about

Cars that I did.

And ya know what? If anyone

knows how to compete against “giant freakin’ robots”, it’s Brad Bird.

;-p

~~=oP

The guy who wrote the

first article doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Yeah, he sounds like

a hater. Any fan of Pixar wouldn’t try to bring Ratatouille down so

early.

And why does he think marketing a rat will be so darn difficult? What was Flushed

Away all about? Mice, rats, and toads in a sewer. Did that stop McDonald’s from selling Happy

Meal toys? Nope.

Besides, I’d take a stuffed rat over a Transformer any day.

~~=oP

Here’s a life lesson I’ve learned … don’t EVER listen to

critics/reviews. It’s what the movie means to you that

matters. I’ve foolishly followed what critics have said of films a while back, only to end up watching that same

‘horrible’ film on TV and to love said film and wished to have seen it in the theatre.

Personally, I

think the bad reviews are just of the people who probably think that Pixar ripped off Dreamwork’s 'Flushed

Away’, when really it’s the other way around.

Okay, well the person who wrote the first article proved

their stupidity in the first line by admitting they had a struggle spelling the word ‘ratatouille’. So, right

off the bat, that’s a little hint that listening to someone who can’t spell a four syllabel word is not a good

idea.

And the point made in the second article about Mickey Mouse was very true- he’s a mouse, and

everyone loves him, so why should the fact that Ratatouille stars a rat be its downfall? And it’s so early to

tell whether it’s gonna be a good film or not- everyone is presuming this and thinking that, but the film itself

comes out in six months! Six months, for pity’s sake! Some people…

Yeah, that’s a bunch of nonsense. The reviews at this point are critizizing
the movie SIX MONTHS before

it’s even in theatres. We won’t know until this summer, and I am absolutely positive that we will all love

Ratatouille because of one thing: IT’S A PIXAR FILM!

First impressions are

everything. Cars’ advertising campaign suffered from too many racing scenes in the trailers. I have more faith

in Ratatouille than anything else. We’ve only seen one trailer; and in my opinion, it’s the best Pixar teaser

trailer released yet. Ratatouille will not be considered a flop, no matter how much competition it has.

The first article clearly states what some people will do just to spend some time posting an article that

doesn’t really need to be posted, so to speak. How can you say that a film will fail if you haven’t even seen

much of the thing yet? Yes, sometimes one can make correct assumptions about a

particular feature, but other times people are just darn wrong concerning productions that haven’t even been

given a chance yet.
The one laugh that I got out of this article is the fact that these people have no idea

what’s in store for them; they say that the film will suck. Well, let’s just see about that in June – then

they’ll be apologizing faster than you can say “dinner is served”.
Of course, I have no idea

whether or not Ratatouille will be a hit or not, but that doesn’t mean that I

don’t have any faith in the film; heck, it’s just the opposite – I can’t wait to see the thing!

By

the way, I have to stress something concerning this sentence in the article:

"…with a plot that

revolves around a rat (not the cleanest of animals)…"

Rats are not

unsanitary animals – as a matter of fact, they are quite clean! They’re probably as clean as your average house

cat…

As for the second article: Well, I’m not gonna say anything against the guy, except for the

fact that he sure has a way with language. He should cut down on the caffeine. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, you can’t judge

these things. Although, I do agree with the man concerning one thing: one reason

that people will go to see this movie is because it is produced by Pixar Animation Studios. That seems to put the

icing on the cake…

I read an article responding to the first article, and left a response, (of course) leaving Pixar Planet as my

homepage - and was asked by the writer of the response to leave a link here, just in case you guys didn’t read

it. You can find it

here.

Yes, the Kyrie listed in the comments is me.

And while the title isn’t as hard to pronounce as people are

making it out to be, it is a French word, and with all of its silent letters, can be rather difficult to

spell.

I don’t really care how well Rat does at the B.O…I just want it to be good.

:unamused:

My thoughts exactly, Meg.

I’m actually quite fond of the title:

Ratatouille. Although the pronunciation is a little confusing, and the word itself

is rather hard to spell out, I find it very “fluent” and creative. Pixar had to think of a word that

connected to food and that contained the word “rat” in it. I think they did a marvelous job of it.

Second to everything you just said,

Mitch.

If

they’re smart, they’ll make fun of how hard it will be for some people to pronounce in the marketing (you could

already see 'em doing it in the poster logo).

Oh, and I do think Rat faces

some pretty intimidating competition at the BO this year, but I still think it’ll make a decent amount of

money.

haha I couldnt help but write a long winded (respectable) remark about that article.

But I felt the need to state my point, Pixar has such a great FREIND BASE (not fan base) Were all in this

together, were all friends in this, and we support Pixar in every way possible. The point of Pixar making movies

is for people like US to watch to enjoy them with them!, and not for the ciritics to tear apart, So as you’ve

all said it’s not about THEM (the critics) it’s about US!

I think everyone in this Board should feel

very very proud and honored that they are apart of something like this. This site was a very good idea, it’s

brought us all together- and you can bet your boots that we as a group constantly inspire Pixar to keep going

and to keep improving.

Were ALL in this together.

your friend,
Cory Ag

crostskates - Amen to that.

I’m not really worried about Ratatouille any more, despite the big box office buzz

that it will go up against. Pixar has its fans and film lovers, and this is where most of

Ratatatouille’s revenue will come from. And people just looking for something fun

to watch on a night out might also spend a few bucks worth on the film, as well.

I’d also like to

mention that parents are always looking for a movie that is both fun and appropriate

for their young children to watch and enjoy. Ratatouille will probably fulfill that

need…

Well I gotta say the first article touched a few concerns that I have. No dont think it will

be a flop, but it is facing some tough competition and I’m not sure how it will be received. Of course, I wont

personally judge it until I see it. But it’s true that Cars and Nemo didnt have much competition to deal

with…

The second one to me didnt seem like it was written by a Pixar hater. He almost seemed to be

defending Ratatouille as well as Cars against those who were putting them down. But maybe that’s just me…
