No, they made it clear that their trunks are still used for storage.
“Pack your trunk pal, 'cause you’re going home!”
As for the insides, I think that maybe they have, well, organs and stuff in there.

So, would they die if i were take the seats out? or the throttle?
I don’t know, because like I said, I don’t think there are seats in there. I think it’s organs and stuff.
I’m pretty sure they don’t have seats, steering wheel etc. Like jessie said, their insides are made up of things similar to ours. All the guts and stuff. As for um…“getting their boogey on” I personally think that happens somewhere in the, uh, undercarriage.
“Gettin’ a good peak, city boy?”
Yeah, must be the undercarriage!
Strange, thinking they might have guts like ours, i mean, intestines, bones and blood flying around inside the car as they drive ‘comfortably’? A little strange for my taste, i just say that router=brain, engine=heart, wheels=feet, trunk=backpack?, front windshield=eyes, front lights=front lights, back lights=‘no touchey’ zone?, muffler=spine, horsepower=cardiovascular strength, # of volts=variable heart rate, chassis=skin, extra parts=accessories, windshield tint=eye color, radio+rear view mirrors= ears, axis= joints, gas tank= stomach, exhaust bin= umm, well, the fart zone!
Yes, it’s strange; it makes absolutely no sense.
Yeah, I typically think of many of those parts representing similar things. It’s kind of hard to fathom but that’s just the way it works!
The Cars are aliens who live on the planet Blipbloop and reproduce by budding.
Since this is all just Wild Mass Guessing, this might as well be thrown in along everything else.
I’m partial to the theory that Cars all used to be humans and just had their brains uploaded to the blank machines, via[spoil]Caroline in Portal 2.[/spoil]
Please remove the part of your post after “blank machines”.
That is a HUGE spoiler.
Not really, since it actually requires them to know who the character actually is in order to know what is actually being spoiled. Now if I had explicitly stated which machine it was instead of leaving it vague, then it would’ve been a massive spoiler.
Besides, this is a PIXAR forum not a Portal one.
We don’t know what it’s a spoiler for until we highlight it. It could be a Peter Pan spoiler for all I know.
Please fix it.
already done.
Personally, I think that the characters in the Cars universe are living biological organisms, and not machines. For something to be an organism, a few things must be met. Those are response to internal/external stimuli, reproduction, growth and development, and maintenance of homeostasis. If you think about it, cars in the Cars universe more or less satisfy all of these conditions. They respond to stimuli (thoughts, feelings, conversation, social interaction, pain, etc.) Reproduction is a grey area, of course, and probably not appropriate to talk about, but I’ll just leave it at the cars have to come from somewhere. Tying into this is growth and development, which you might not be able to see in the cars at first, but signs are there upon closer examination. For example, Lightning is called a young rookie several times, as well as Doc being an old racing veteran. So that’s aging. In addition, there are physical signs as well, such as the rust on Mater, and we know that he was previously baby blue. As for homeostasis, we know that cars maintain that because they have parts (or “organs”) for that explicit purpose (coolant, radiator, oil flow, etc.). Just like humans!
Again, keep in mind that this is just pertaining to the Cars universe. In the real world, we know for a fact that cars are machines, because they allow us to get to places. The definition of a machine is a device that manages power to accomplish a task. Obviously, that definition applies in our world, but doesn’t fit in the Cars world at all. For example, in our world, we drive cars for transportation, whereas in the Cars universe, they are sentient beings with free will, and the only things they transport are themselves.
I think the source of the confusion is differences in the conditions of classification between the two worlds. Additionally, keep in mind that the definition of a biological organism does NOT include a condition that requires a conventional organic molecular composition!
The problem with this debate, which is why I stopped putting in my input, was that people kept comparing it to our universe as if it would ever make sense. That just leads to a stalemate, no?
^^I can certainly see your logic in that Ding. The Cars series always had the most amount of heightened fantasy, even moreso than Up or WALL-E, since it’s almost nearly identical to ours except instead of people there’s cars. Sort of like a giant Widget/ What If series
^That’s why this question can never be answered, x3haijessiex3. It’s like PIXAR’s own Zen Riddle, the sort of thing that monks gather around in remote areas to discuss, spending centuries of eternal silence trying to philosophize an answer to. “Are Cars actually biological creatures?”, “What does it mean to be alive?” and “What is so hot it’s cool, but so cool it’s hot?”
Okay, but back to wait I said, it makes no sense to compare a different universe to ours.
Okay, and here’s this. ^^^
No matter what you say, it’s not going to change the fact that comparing an animated movie’s universe to our world is going to get us nowhere. We’re supposed to be defining their characteristics, not comparing them.
Like I said, this is the reason why I stopped posting in this area.
