umm, What’s
really the difference between Guy cars and Girl cars? I don’t think that they have different
parts
if you know what i mean,
Well, there seems to be quite an obvious difference:
Deeper voice - males
Softer voice -
females
Other than that, I’m not sure. Maybe the females don’t have the…umm…thing. ![]()
that’s funny mitch!
I guess look at their facial features. I
can’t tell because they are cars, but I guess if you look at them as a man and a woman.
That’s easy !
Girls have
eyelash thingys and guys don’t .
I remember a certain someone ( cough mitch cough ) saying that guys
do have certain “parts” since Lightning kind of flinched when mater hooked him up each time .
![]()
Let me see if I can get this right… on an episode of
NCIS, a guy character was educating a girl character on how there are “girl” cars and “guy”
cars. I can’t remember exactly which he designated which - though I do remember him saying that most if not all
Volkswagens were “girl” cars - maybe it was more than a chauvinistic statement and that’s the basis of
gender in the Carworld…
CarFreak - Glad I could make you laugh – heheh. ![]()
gottalovepixar - Actually, as I recall, Sally herself didn’t have any
eyelashes at all. This is why it is all the more difficult to distinguish between a male and a female car if you
don’t hear them speaking.
KE - Heheh – that’s cute.
Actually, the easiest way to tell is by their
voices.
The Star Swordsman - Yep – that’s what I said. All you
have to do is listen to them speak and the problem is solved. The only other way – at least, the only other way
that I can think of – for one to tell the difference between the genders is their driving style. For
example:
Females - drive a little slower, smoother, and
“lighter”
Males - drive rather rough; turn sharp corners and maneuver a
little differently than that of the females
I don’t know if this helps, but maybe their color as well?
The Star Swordsman - I was
thinking of including that, but then I realized that you can’t really tell by color-coordination. If we were to
be technical, we would probably say that all the males wear darker colored paint, while the females are a lighter
shade. However, this can’t be true, for Lizzy – a female – is a very dark black, and Luigi and Guidi – both
males – are each a very light yellow and blue.
Nice theory, though, The Star
Swordsman. ![]()
Well, it was
worth a shot. Maybe their car’s body shape? Just throwing out suggestions.
The Star
Swordsman - Hey yeah – their body shape! Nice suggestion. For example:
Mini and Van (both
Minivans, of course) are the same type of car, but their overall complexions/profiles are quite different from
each other in some ways, including: color, general shape, height.
Nice observation. ![]()
The eyelashes are the only obvious physical characteristic that tells
apart the female cars from the male cars. They took it one step further with Flo and gave her lips, but I think
that was to help clarify her
ethnicity.

And Mitch, Sally does have
eyelashes.

As an attractive female car, I would certainly think she should have them. ![]()

PV :
You beat me to it . Sally does have eyelashes , i should know this since i’ve drawn here a few timew . That’s
my favorite part to do . Because then it either looks like the car , or you totally messed it up . ![]()
Mitch : The vans were different sizes because if you notice by their names ( Van and Minnie ) one is a
regular van , while the other is a mini van . The sound of their voice , well you never know , because i’m
guessing just like in real life , some of the guys might sound like girls and some girls might sound like guys .
And then you get into a bunch of other gender stuff , but that’s another topic .
PV Oh wow – look at that! I stand corrected. ![]()
I never noticed that she had eyelashes before, a they seem rather hard for me to see. I guess I just
should have looked really closely…
gottalovepixar - Ahh…I see. No wonder
Mini and Van are different sizes. (snigger)
See, this is why I shouldn’t be digging into the
Cars forum very often: I know nothing about the vehicles whatsoever! ![]()
I don’t know much about cars
either, but I know a car with eyelashes when I see one. ![]()
hugs I’m just teasin’ ya,
Mitch. ![]()
~~=oP
(snigger) Heheh – yeah, I should have figured as much.
hugs back ![]()
To tell you the truth, I used to absolutely despise cars
before I saw the film – they were just boxes with wheels to me! But then one of my aunts and John Lasseter
helped to show me the beauty of the things… ![]()
There’s no set way to tell whether a car is female or male, just as there’s
no set way to tell whether a human (with clothes on
) is a male or female, technically. I guess in Cars’
case, Pixar had to make it obvious, so the female cars do look very feminine compared to the male cars. But there
could definitely be tom-boy cars, making things all the more confusing!
lizardgirl - Haha – “with clothes on”! That made me laugh. ![]()
Actually, with humans, there is a very easy way to tell whether a person is male or female just by their
looks and even personality. I guess it is the same way with cars, in some cases.
Yeah – that would be me. ![]()
