What do you LOVE about Mater
?
This is a thread for all Mater fans to fawn over him and express how much they love him. I love the fact
that he is so open hearted and friendly. He is also a confort for people who are upset by looking on the bright
side of things . He is a role model for those who need to realize what a true friend needs to be like .
I’m going to draw a girl truck for Mater to be his girlfriend and three little baby towtrucks to be his
offspring .
Now THAT’S what I’m talking about! A thread
dedicated to Mater! 
He’s my favourite character in Cars (it was decided the second I saw the first
trailer) and you pretty much summed up why I like him. He may not be the brightest car in the bunch at Radiator
Springs, but I believe he has the biggest heart. He’s like the best bud you wanted but never knew existed.
Whenever Mater has a bright smile on his face, it makes me want to smile as well. 
That, and he’s
superbly voiced by Larry the Cable Guy. That man was perfect for the role, and screw what the anti-LtCG
population thinks.
I’d almost want
to say that Mater is the best friend you never knew you wanted. Lightning thought he was fine without a friend
like Mater until he had one. Also, to people like Lightning, Mater’s “redneck-ish” ways are a bit
off-putting; Lightning thinks he’s in “Hillbelly Hell” and doesn’t want to associate with Mater until
Lightning realizes that a good friend like Mater was what he had been looking for.
Yeah, what Mater lacks in brain power, he makes up for more than enough with his loyalty, honesty and just
general sense of fun. Without him, Lightning would probably have never realised the error of his ways.
Gotta Love Mater. the comedian whether he
knows it or not 
One thing that I’ve just
thought of- ‘Mater’ means ‘mother’ in Latin, but I can’t figure out a relevance for this other than it being
a coincidence.
Absolute coincidence; I’m sure you could draw something from that, but it
would be completely meaningless in regards as to why the name was chosen, seeing as it’s just “Mater”
Keever’s nickname being borrowed.
Okay then, it’s just a coincidence. (I
was getting worried there! 
)
I love Mater. He
is so funny and so adorable. There is not a soul on earth who will not be touched by Mater’s personality.
Mater’s cool. I went into the cinema only having the vaguest idea as to who Larry the Cable
Guy was, so I think that helped me to form an opinion of him without previous bias. General summary = I still
don’t know that much about him, but he was perfect for the role.
Mater’s the kind of person who melts
all but the coldest heart, and while he may not be the fastest or strongest, takes pride in what he can do.
(“I’m the world’s bestest backwords driver!”) We need more people like that in the world.
Mater has to be my favorite character too, for all the reasons that have been
mentioned. He’s so sweet, so willing to make friends. What strikes me is he doesn’t seem to have the
capability to hate. Even when McQueen is a total jerk about the town or rusty cars, the most Mater does is get a
little upset. (And that lasts for what, 2.5 seconds?) We never see Mater angry.
I also love how Mater is
so honest. It probably helps that he isn’t the brightest car around - he doesn’t analyze things, he just sees
them for what they really are.
We could use more people like him.
Mater is probably so much like a grandpa. He never gets
angry, always understanding, has a funny, yet forgetful personality, and has unique talents.
