Awhile back I reported for you all that Mattel is making Toy Story figures!
Now, I have some fun news. At the San Diego Comic Con there will be a great 3 3/4" Buzz Lightyear for sale with movie-accurate packaging! No official price is announced, but its likely to be $15-$20. It will also be available online at MattyCollector.com after the cons, so never fear and avoid ebay scalpers!

3 words that struck me: Movie. Accurate. Packaging.
I don’t want to do an Al here (he, he… Toy Story reference… managed to squeeze one in! Yes!), but I’m gonna get this, and keep it unopened up on the shelf… perfect decor!
I would love a replica, but this isn’t accurate enough for me. I think being so small made it too hard to do. I mean, does he even have the word “laser” on his right arm? if its there its barely legible.
I hope they do a full scale version with the movie accurate packaging, but they probably wont.
I love that it’s so similar to the movie original! Though the proportions of Buzz’s body looks a little off in the second photo, but I’m pretty sure it wasn’t quite right throughout the film anyway, as one of his quirks as a toy. The fact that he actually comes in a Star Command rocket box is really cool, though.
Not sure I get what your saying. The Buzz I have in my room right now is more accurate in proportions then that thing. Sure, it lacks details like the paint here and there, but overall its dead on. The only thing that would be impossible to translate from the movie if it were real is buzz wouldn’t be able to put him arms all the way down to his sides like a normal person. if you notice his upper arms always intersected with his chest. But that’s more of an articulation issue.
It seems to me they adjusted his arm’s ball and socket joints so he could put his arms down, but they sacrificed more accuracy in doing so in my opinion. I would rather he be less possible than look weird.
It doesn’t look out of proportion to me, but Buzz’s face does look a bit different. It’s cool how the packaging is exactly like that in the movie. I’d love to have one of those, but I don’t think I’d order one online or go to the trouble of getting one.
Well, in all honesty, the figure ain’t anything special. The box, however, was something that was never done perfectly before. I think the box is actually dead-on (which is reason enough to buy this).
The problem with the figure is that the helmet is too wide, he looks like he’s leaning to one side, and there’s something about the face…
