Hanging out on tumblr all day has introduced me to a lot of things I don’t think I would’ve seen otherwise.

Two of those things happen to be these two animated shorts on vimeo that have absolutely blown me away.

The first is Meet Buck. An explosively clever take on hunting with an animation style that’s just too aesthetically pleasing to miss. vimeo.com/17535548

The second is relatively goofy short that shares many similarities in style and design as the previous short. Which isn’t much of a surprise when you learn the two people behind both are good friends who graduated from the same school. Salesman Pete is the ultimate in bumbling action heroes and I’d pay money to see more of his adventures. vimeo.com/15126262

There seems to be a rising trend in people going on to bigger and better things with amazing shorts like these. I don’t think I have to rattle off a list of the various people who have. Hopefully, these two will be joining their ranks in the near future.

Also, excuse my rather amateurish presentation. It’s something I really have to work on.

I only watched the Buck one (my computer’s almost dead) so I’ll watch the other one at some other time.

But I liked it! Besides the awkward near kiss scene. But I really like the animation, I love the texture of everything, it looks like paint. Thank you for sharing!

I saw Salesman Pete when it first came out, and Meet Buck just the other day. Both excellent shorts visually, but the stories are a little dull. Still, I’d love to see a studio make a full length film in this style.

Very cool shorts, thanks for posting! Here’s another vote for a feature in similar style. If the same folks produced it…clearly there would be steak. Loved the nod to Big Buck Bunny in Meet Buck.
