Meet the Robinsons

I spoiler proofed

your post to be safe, crostskates. The movie is brand new. I’d hate for anything

to be ruined for anyone.

~~=oP

No.

The color scripts for these sequences were done before Lasseter

came on board. Every animated film has them, and they usually tend to be pretty simple, hence the similarity.

Opps Sorry Vixen, it was just about 1am here and I was tired. oh! I forgot

after that ratatouille trailer played before the movie, a kid behind me says to his friend "I really want to

see that" Which made me feel really good; But I cant put my finger on why.

Something like that

happend when i was watching Cars, there was this old man talking abouit the movie to his wife and as the beautful

scenery started playing on the screen he was “geeking out” about how detailed and beutiful that scene

looked. After the movie ended Him and I were the ones that started the applause. As he was leaving, the theater I

heard him say to the usher that he is willing to bet Cars would win an oscar for best animated film for the year,

if not the entire world. He was really a cool old guy if you ask me.

Anyways, I’m going to see meet the

robinsons agian with some people who havent seen it. Time to spread the word, disney is back.

Hey! So I figured out why the

pre-feature toons are different!

For those of you who saw the 3D version, a script read before the cartoon

started- "…this is the first time it’s been in theaters since it’s original showing in

3D, 1950-something, blahblahblah…"

I saw MTR for the second time today- (Twice in

one weekend!) and it registered this time. The reason the two pre-features are different is because

the 3D feature is actually an original 3D feature, From way back when 3D first came

out!

Pretty cool, huh?

(snigger) I arrest my case.

Hog-Hug - On the whole “hat” thing: Ohh…I see what you mean now.

Heh – yeah, it was a bit of a harsh moment, now that I think about it. Poor Lewis didn’t know what the heck was

going on, but thankfully…everything was explained at the end of the film. That particular part in the film did

kinda have me scratching my head though:

[spoil]I thought the Robinsons didn’t want to adopt

Lewis because he had spikey hair. :stuck_out_tongue: [/spoil]

Meg - Ahh – ok.

Cool. Man, I feel so embarassed now. And I call myself an artist… (snigger) Thanks for letting me know,

though!

Mitch- About

your spoiler:

Yeah, I didn’t realize until after the film why exactly Lewis’ hair was a give away. Which

is weird, because once you realize it, it’s kind of obvious… but I dunno. For some reason I just didn’t catch

on right away. 8D Maybe because I was too busy thinking about how cute Lewis & Wilbur were. :unamused: I’m so in

love with their character designs. Everyone’s, really.

Hog-Hug - Cha – it is obvious, but then it’s not obvious at the

same time. I didn’t realize what the connection was between that scene and the ending until the day after I had

seen the movie. (snigger) :stuck_out_tongue:

Haha – I don’t blame you! The character designs are

way cool, especially Wilbur’s. Gotta love those Robinsons. :sunglasses:

Your screen

name is fun to type, by the way. (heheh)

Me too, actually! O_o

I guess it

goes along with my reaction to a good film. If I love it, I’m just kind of content after I see it… and then

the day after, I’m NUTS- obsessive and thinking out it all the time, so I remember/

think of more things usually then.

If you can’t locate a theater showing Meet The

Robinsons in Disney Digital 3D, try using this:

Find A READ D Digital 3D Cinema Near

You

I’ve discovered there’s a REAL D theater in the same place I’m

seeing Sarah Vowell next week. Wednesday promises to be a fun day.

~~=oP

Hog-Hug - Haha – I’m

almost the same way. After I see a film that I love I’ll automatically want to see it again the minute after it

ends. And that’s when the fandom starts… :stuck_out_tongue:

PixarVixen - Ha – cool. I

didn’t even know there were such things as REAL D theaters! Cool, indeed…

And wow – you’re gonna see

Sarah Vowell again? Sounds like fun.

Well, the box

office results are in, and MTR was second behind Blades of Glory.

I noticed that on Fandango. MTR

is still doing significantly better than the rest of the movies that are listed, or so it

appears.

Check

out this page at Jim

Hill. I can?t believe how MTR only made 25.1 million dollars on opening weekend compared to other

computer-animated films.

JV - Aw man – you beat me to it. (snigger) :stuck_out_tongue:

I am also

rather surprised at the fact that the film only made that much at the box office on its opening weekend, but it

was an interesting article nonetheless. As stated, this may be a good thing for those traditional, 2-D animation

fans…although the whole idea seems rather far-fetched to me. However, I would be more than happy if the Disney

company did resort back to being an entirely 2D-producing studio. We’ll just have to see what happens…

You’re suprised? Why? The

marketing campaign was terrible! I was actually expecting it to do worse, to be honest…I haven’t seen a single

trailer or TV spot for this that would do anything for non-animation geeks like myself.

Meg - Seriously? I didn’t think they marketed it too badly, but now that I think

about it…you’re right. Hardly any tv spots where shown that I know of, and the toys are few. However, I did

see billions of posters for the film, and www.disney.com advertised the thing like

crazy.

Maybe it will do better within the next week or so…

Ditto. I wouldn’t have known about this film if people weren’t talking about

it on here.

I for one am disappointed about

the lack of toys. If you don’t have a Disney Store, you’re screwed. Aside from the Pez dispensers and

children’s books, and a box of band-aids my mom found, there is nothing else. :-\

Speaking of

children’s books, yesterday I picked up [i:33tq78le]A Day With Wilbur Robinson[/i:33tq78le] by William Joyce

(the book the movie was adapted from). I did a comparison to [i:33tq78le]Meet The Robinsons[/i:33tq78le]. I

listed differences in the book, but in case anyone wants to read it, I made them

spoilers.

[spoil]- Lewis is not an orphan, and the Robinsons are not from the future.

There is a cousin Pete who works with big cats.

 • Mr. and Mrs. Robinson are mentioned in the book, but not by

name.

 • There are 4 other uncles…uncle Wormly hangs out with giant bugs, uncle Nimbus invents weather

machines, uncle Orbley created bubble transportation, and uncle Judlow relaxes with a brain augmentor.

Tallulah is Wilbur’s sister. He also has a sister named Blanche who wears the same dress Tallulah wears in the

movie.

 • Green dinosaurs (real, not bushes) roam the yard because somebody left the time machine on.

Wilbur’s grandfather (unnamed) composes the frog band.

 • Uncle Art doesn’t deliver pizza.
 • Uncle Joe,

Uncle Fritz, and Aunt Petunia aren’t mentioned the book.[/spoil]

PixarVixen - Yeah, there is a Disney Store in my

area…but even the Meet the Robinsons toys provided there are few. Various toys and

school supplies (school packs; mini fans; etc.), t-shirts, a Carl costume, and a selection of books is the most

they’ve got really. It sucks…

Although, I have to admit that the fans are pretty cool. The don’t

just have Meet the Robinsons ones, but also Buzz Lightyear, Mickey Mouse, and

others. How it works is you turn the fan on and it emits a lit-up message on the blades of the fan. It’s a

pretty neat little thing.

As for the book, I have yet to read it. Thanks for the spoilers, though.

When I have the dough…I’m gonna purchase the book.

I saw the movie today!

The 1st part of the movie was okay, the

middle and the last part of the movie was the best parts.
