Memories of Year 2008/ New Year 2009 Resolutions

The year’s almost up, and now’s the time to look back at the year and share memories, as well as prepare for a brand new year!

My memories, in no particular order:

  1. Got a brand new bike recently, and named it “Rudolph”, 'cause it’s shiny red.
  2. Saw a shooting star on the same night I got my new bike. It was awesome!
  3. Listened to my friends tell me that they saw a lunar eclipse (darn, I missed it)
    4. Got an account on Pixar Planet (made a difference for me).
  4. Watched some of the 2008 Bejjing Olyimpics
  5. Saw WALL-E (magnificent film) in the theater with friends.
  6. Saw Kung-Fu Panda, also in the theater, with most of the family
  7. Wrote my own fanfictions
  8. Saw Horton Hears a Who, Nim’s Island, Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium, and plenty other enjoyable films outside Pixar and Dreamworks.
  9. Learned (and is still learning) how to make music videos.
  10. Made new friends and aquaintances online.
  11. Learned to cook some foods in school.
  12. Used an exacto knife for the first time.
  13. Had some bizarre but amazing and memorable dreams.
  14. Went to a slumber party that involved going to the mall at day.
  15. Had a bowling night and an ice cream night at church.
  16. Played in snow in my church’s Winter Retreat. And went innertubing.
    [to be continued]

I won’t make my New Year Resolution just yet, and my list isn’t complete yet because I’ve got some days left in the year to make additional memories.

Sounds like you had some good times in 2008, BDD!

Some memories of 2008:

  • Hanging out a frozen lake decorated with art shanties with some friends
  • My three animation classes I took this year
  • Going to see Horton Hears a Who with the Animation Club
  • Seeing Wall E with my dad
  • Hosting a full blown Harry Potter marathon with my two fellow HP fanatic friends
  • Sitting in on a lecture by Pixar lighting director, Keith Cormier, and talking to him afterward
  • Attending the Minnesota Electronic Theater (MN SIGGRAPH)
  • Being commissioned to take some family portraits
  • Attending a family reunion in one of the most beautiful places in Wisconsin
  • Watching the 2008 Olympics on TV and seeing Michael Phelps make history
  • Joining Pixar Planet
  • Working with my aunt on a wood/mirror/metal sculpture

That’s all that comes to mind right now.

Nothing too specific right now, but here are a couple general resolutions for the New Year:

  • Continuing to push myself as an animator, artist, and person
  • Being open to trying new things

Here’s some big moments I had in 2008.

I became a Pixar fan
I got an account on Pixar Planet Forums
I got braces
I lost 17 pounds
I saw Wall-E
I graduated from my freshmen year of high school (yes!)
My social status has incresed
I learned how to ollie on a skateboard

Thats pretty much it for '08. Who knows what '09 will bring!!

Memories of 2008

Played as Barnaby in my high school production of Hello Dolly

Won the High School City Improv Tournament

Recieved 2 awards for my acting (Best Actor, and Best Actor in a Featured Role)

Went to Orlando Florida (where my choir and I went to the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and where we won first place in a competition)

Graduated High School

Got my first Car

College

Thanksgiving w/ my family

Watching sports and the Olympics with my family.

So many, but I can’t name them all right now.

lol Most of my memories involve watching great movies, being a movie lover and all.

There were some fun times with my friends from school. We’ve really grew up from last year. We became less tempered, grew closer towards one another. We became more understanding of each other’s needs, and we burst out successfully as rising phoenixes, which is ironic because that is the Sports House I belong to. You would only understand this if you are Asian.

I remember how it was like first watching WALL-E, though it became more forgettable as time moves on. Iron Man was awesome. I remember squealing when Samuel L. Jackson steps in and said his line about The Avengers. I was glad that the majority cheered when he said that. It was just a beautiful moment.

Oh, and I was glad The Incredible Hulk was remade, because the previous one was just… a shameful film that needs to be compacted by WALL-E… yeah.

I remember all the counselings I went through for the past year. I received a lot of help from my school counselor, and I was still kinda sore about my crush, but that is a matter that should be left dead in the past…

I remember my second surgery. My god, that was just frightening, my whole teeth falling out and all. I never handled bloody scenes very well, especially when it is my bloody scene.

I remember how I receive my laptop this year. Great functions, but nevertheless, it would soon be trashed in soon anyway.

And there were a lot of fun times in the past, but there were also some moments better off unoccurred. But, they occurred, so we just have to move on with the new year of 2009… with more excellently made movies coming up! This new year is going to be a blast!

Nice idea for a thread, bright dot-dasher! Can’t believe this year is nearly over already…

I guess my best memories of 2008 are of travelling on a Tallship around the Caribbean, and going to Barcelona and Italy. Obviously seeing WALL-E has been a highlight, as well as celebrating my 18th birthday. I’ve been to a fair few gigs that I’ve wanted to go to for ages, especially Hot Chip and Pendulum, plus some good comedians, Ed Byrne and Dara O’Briein in particular.

Finishing Year 12 is a strong memory, but not necessarily a good one. But starting Year 13 has been good (so far, at least). And general mucking about with friends, which will always be remembered in a fond light.
