Well, an opinionative title, but, true, iPod’s are still
better, they just need a big screen
now.
"Afte
r a couple months of spy shots and leaked product specs, Microsoft today officially announced its Zune digital
media player ($TBA; Oct./Nov.). The iPod rival features music and video playback, 30GB of storage, Wi-Fi, a
built-in FM tuner and a 3-inch color screen. The Zune will come in three colors ? black, brown and white. And as
much as we want to hate it, we’re pretty much really digging the wireless music sharing feature. According to
Microsoft, you can share any song on your Zune with another Zune user, who can then listen to that song three
times and then flag it right on the device to be purchased later. You listening, Apple?"
It looks pretty ugly…And brown?
White and black’s okay, but brown’s an
interesting colour for an MP3 player…Any idea of prices? I guess people will go for this because of the fact
that it’s Microsoft, and for every iPod lover, there’s an iPod hater who wants to get something else to prove
Apple wrong, but this device looks rather strange.
I doubt I’d get it, but then again, I’m not an iPod person either . . .

In my opion, both IPods and teh new Microsoft devices are
money grabbers. Sure, it has 30 GB. But with all those features it doesn’t hold many more songs then my little
500 MB mp3 player. I do’t care if mine doesn’t have a huge color screen. I just want music.
I actually think it looks okay but
I love my ipod. And not for the reason that it’s like… super popular right now. It just has great design and I
love iTunes for its superior organization. The battery life is a bit on the low side though, but that’s the only
thing that could really be improved.
And I actually think brown would be a nice color for an MP3
player…

All I want Apple to do now is come out with an iPod with a PSP sized screen.
What do
you mean Sammeh, words of a n00b. All those extra feautres uses up none/little of the space, and trust me 500MB
is not enough for my music collection. Sure you probably won’t use up 30/60/ or maybe even 120 GIG fast, but you
will use it up and can.

Not really. When I
don’;t listen to songs as much, I just dele them, and their more room. XD
I remember looking a a flyer
awhile back. And there was and Ipod and just a normal MP3 player with the same amount of GB and the MP3 could
hold more songs, by a thousand or so.
My ipod is a 30 gig and so far I’ve only filled like 8 gigs of it and I’ve had it for a few months now.
(That’s a little under a thousand songs). I still have a long ways to go heheheh. But I like the fact that
there’s the possibility of that much room although I’m sure I probably could go on way less… like less than 1
gig because I also listen to cerain music at certain times and lose interest in others. But like I said… it’s
that possibilty and option of all these different kinds of music that I love.
I’m not particularly sure how many gigs and whatever my Zen Micro holds, but
I’ve got about 1,500 tracks on there now, and I don’t think I’ve used up all the space, but it’s plenty for
me. I’d only get something with a larger file size if I had a ridiculous amount of music, and since I really
don’t then I won’t bother. It can get very expensive, too, getting something with lots and lots of memory.

Well, I suppose if
your an illegal downloader, you’d fill that in no time.

I like it actually. My ‘old’ mp3 player from Sony is just a plain one with 20 gigs of space
but it isnt doing so well right now. the disc is crammed full with songs for months now and the fact that I
listen to it some 9 hours a day (I always have it on on my work) made the batterylife drop dramaticly
lately.
So I’m looking for a new one. I’m gonna wait to see in what sizes the microsoft oe is comming
out, as I am realy looking for a 60 or 80 gig player.
Playing movies on it is a plus, but not really needed, I
just need more space for my music files.
Playing movies is a plus and I thought that that would all I would use my ipod for but the truth is quite
different. Getting movies onto the ipod is really hard and even though they just made them readily available on
US iTunes, it’s $9.99 a pop for old ones and $12.99 for new. (They also have a few Pixar flicks up now!). I’m
not gonna waste my money on movies that I’m going to buy in DVD form anyways so it’s not that much better. I do
have a few movies and it’s fun watching it on the go but it eats up the battery so fast and it makes you a bit
dizzy.
Good idea and a fun concept for every now and then, but I wouldn’t buy a player based on video
watching capabilities.
