FONY - Haha – well, thank you! It actually takes me approxiamately ten minutes to draw each one, which is a pretty pitiful score when it comes right down to it. However, I shall improve!
Thanks again!
Bill - Aw shucks. Thanks, Bill. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In
Ten minutes?? O_O Heh, if I did mine at that rate they’d probably turn out better, but I had to go through tests where you had to make 1 minute sketches of a model or a still-life. That’s hard. I’m used to working at a faster pace, but then again that makes me restless and I tend to get stuff done quicker when I really should be spending a lot more time paying attention to detail. =P
You’ll get the hang of it soon ^^ I just practice with brief sketches … and, the worst is sketching from life, especially when you’re a cartoonist like me- I often have trouble seperating cartoony-ness from reality. It’s obnoxious and I never notice it until some snot-nosed teacher points it out and scolds me about it. ><
FONY - Eheheh. Yeah, well, it actually only takes me about five minutes (give or take) to draw the initial base/outline of the character; the extra five minutes are spent on adding detail, fixing minor errors, and the like.
Yeah, I’ll keep in mind the fact that I should just practice in a “light and easy” manner until I get the hang of the art. Life drawing will most definitely be a tremendous boost of assistance on my part, but I’m rather scared to take it; howeve, I’ll have to dive into the subject if I want to improve my game. Oh well. That’s the way the world turns… (snigger)
I absolutely love both of them! I also made a drawing celebrating the opening day, but just one thing - I think should open a bottle of champagne! I mean, after all, it is French, and it’s good to celebrate!
About the Emile sketches… you’re getting better at this! My favorite is the bottom left corner one. I think it’s very professional.
You keep getting better and better! Very nice job, Mitch! My only gripe is the bottom right; Emile’s eyes are a bit too far apart and it looks kinda funny, but it’s still cute. Keep up the good work!
Mitch- Firstly, concerning your Opening Day piece, Remy looks adorable! He does look slightly tilted, but if the piece were rotated slightly, because his feet still have a flat base, so to speak, it would look fine! Nice colouring, too.
I love your Emilt sketches. You’ve used the cartoony way of stretching the character’s proportions really well, and I think they looks great in blue pencil. The evil one of Emile is very funny, and the one of him face on is perfect proportionally! I wouldn’t change a thing about these sketches.
No that’s not it. I think the film is called rat-a-tow-lee. Gah, why couldn’t they have just called it “The Rat Movie”? People will never know how to pronounce a French word for a title of a kids’ movie!
I like the Emile sketch in the bottom right-hand corner. His chubby cheeks and teeth look so cute. =)
Maggie - Yeah – champagne galore to toast my…non-idiocy! (snigger)
Heheh. Thank you very much, Maggie!
sharpie - I knew that I would mess up on the eyes in that drawing! Practice, practice, practice… I appreciate the critique and comment, though. Thank you.
Oh, and your new avatar is hilarious, by the way.
lizardgirl - Much obliged!
rachel - Lol.
Thank you for the compliment on the teeth! I have a heck of a time drawing that specific facial feature, though I have no idea why. Any comments and/or criticism on teeth is greatly appreciated!
Oh, that’s ok. They look cute. =) I’m a real “teeth person” and I’m always looking at people’s teeth, so yeah that’s why I commented on them. I’m weird, I know.
P.S. Sorry I haven’t been “up and about” as of late. My work schedule has been through the roof, and I literally haven’t been on the computer for more than 40-60 minutes in the past…two weeks (up until now). I’m doing my best to stay on top of things, though. Keep moving forward…!
Eheheh. Thank you, rachel. I’ll make it up to you guys, I promise! (See, I’ve got myself tied up here now, because I never break a promise…ever! Now I’ll have to do the pictures… (snigger) )
Gasduude - I loved it, too. It had an almost “Fantasia-esque” type of theme, the way the visualizations floated through the air and transformed from one shape to another.
I love how Remy looks in that one. I also really like that you did that in blue pencil which makes it stand out from you’re previous Remy sketches. Please use that technique more often.
The Star Swordsman - Thank you! I am seriously finding it alot easier to sketch out my favorite characters now-a-days. Practice makes perfect, and I’m gonna continue to move forward!
Bill - Thanks, Bill! I will, indeed, use that particular medium more often, as I love the contrast of the blue pencil against a white backround. I have also found that a blue pencil is more effective to work with as it doesn’t smudge and emits a lighter color upon the paper, making it easier for me to sketch out drawings.
