Oh yes I say many of us are quite intrigued…
Bobbydafan- Okay, I’ll take your word for it! I’m pleased that it stays true to the characters- I’d say aside from a strong and necessary storyline that this is one of the most important things when it comes to a sequel.
And I have to ask the question that I’m sure several others on here are desperate to know the answer to (though if you can’t answer it because of privacy or whatever, that’s not a problem)- does Randall return? I doubt he will, but I can’t help but wonder.
Well I’m actually John Lasseter’s best friend and he told me that they have no plans for Monsters, Inc. sequel. Really, true story.
eerik, You know more than I do. I only know there’s a great script that I’d love to see made. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t . Send my best to JL.
Really? Whats he like?
Of course I’m not John’s friend. My point is that you cannot trust a random member. Everybody can make up stories and that’s how rumors get started.
Unless there is any official information or univocal confirmation from an authentic source I don’t believe any rumors about sequels.
well there is cars 2.
welcome to pixar planet, but yes there is a Cars 2
I’m just wondering if there will be a Monster’s Inc 2. it’s been a long time since they have released the movie so I think fans, including me, deserve a sequel. I would love to see what happened to Boo and the Monster’s Inc.
In the words of the prospector from Blazing Saddles, “Raffer!” ^0^ (agreeing gruff sound ^0^)
I hope this is true, I’m pretty big on sequels… I wonder when Pixar will release news on its future movies, I hope its pretty soon, I’m curious about this…
Pixar is obviously hands-fulled with making their upcoming films. Unsure if they’re doing 2 a year or not, so right now just assuming they’re churning out 1 for year gold.
Though…they might release dates of sequels/originals to sorta “quelm” the anticipation of fans…that is if they listen to them.
cranes neck Oh yeah, that. In short everyone, there’s a sequel, yada yada yada.
I was about to point that out upon reading it in the ‘How to train your dragons’ thread, but Mygames19 beat me to it!
Monsters Inc fans, this is the movie you’ve been waiting for!
Well, no, not necessarily. The main reason I’m a Monsters, Inc. fan at all is because of one character, and I can just about guarantee that if he’s even in this sequel, it’s not going to be in a way that will warrant me wasting my hard-earned money. I keep hoping that Pixar will pleasantly surprise me, but a response on DA from one of the BOOM! comic artists pretty much dashed those hopes. It’s sad to see Pixar following that worn-out Saturday morning cartoon formula. I honestly thought that they were above that, or could come up with something more original. I don’t have a good feeling about this sequel at all, now.

Call me whiny, but I get a bad feeling in my stomach when I think about either Monsters, Inc. 2 or Cars 2. How on earth do you make a sequel original, let alone something that would appeal to the general audience AND critics? I’ll probably be wrong, but I bet an upcoming Pixar sequel will be the first one to flop.
Because Toy Story 2 was a bad movie.
Common people, we are talking Pixar here! XP
While I have my own score to settle about the M.I. 2 sequel…
I will say that I understand where there is a Cars 2. The first Cars was a great story, but borrowed heavily from the plotline of Doc Hollywood (Funny enough one of the main characters has the first name hm hm hm). That, and they were limited to showing basically just one place in the Cars world. So taking it “on the road” will make the story more original, as well as show more of the world of Cars itself.
Seriously? So this is actually official now?
I don’t know what to think. I really don’t know. But, as with all other Pixar films, be they sequels or originals, I’ll wait for more information before judging it too harshly, though I do think I’d prefer Pete Docter to be focusing his efforts on something original, considering the successes he has had with Monsters, Inc. and now Up.
