Monsters Vs. Aliens

I really enjoyed it ! But i want so badly to see it in 3-D … :imp:
Although there is parts where you can see it was made specially for the 3-D.
I simply love B.O.B in a weird way, but Insectosaurus just didn’t get to me…
And i love how “The Missing Link” walks.
What i didn’t like is at some parts you get annoyed by the jokes like it’s too much but besides that i really liked it !
Anyway i’ll give it a 8/10.

Congratulations on getting your review published in your uni’s student paper, Andre. Wow! You must be pretty famous around campus now, heheh.

I agree with some of the edits because it gave the review a better flow and the paper probably didn’t want it to seem like you were taking sides, like Mitch said, but Pixar does have a better track record and reliability factor than Dreamworks, and that’s something that has been mentioned many times in Pixar reviews, and vice versa with Dreamworks reviews in the mainstream press, so it’s not exactly a controversial stance. Ah well. That’s what it’s like working in journalism, I suppose. Anyway, a very fun and clever write-up, much like your regular posts here. Hopefully the opportunity will come up and you can write another piece soon.

I saw Monster’s vs. Aliens yesterday with my brother, it’s actually pretty good, better than I expected. I probably wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if it wasn’t in 3-D.

My sister and I have now seen Monsters Vs. Aliens three times and we have most of the dialogue down already. This has to be some kind of a record. Usually it takes us about five viewings to quote a fair percentage of the lines uttered in any film.

I haven’t seen it yet but I wanna know, how close was my guess?

Fett101 - You got it exactly on the ball, and I do mean exactly.

Kind of sad how predictable DreamWorks is, really. The entire plot-line can be interpreted solely from their films’ trailers and T.V. spots…

That or I’m just so good I should write for Dreamworks

Yeah right… jeeze they suck.

Fett101 - Heh. Pretty much anyone could write for DreamWorks, it seems, which is quite pitiful when you think about it. Most of their films are down-right predictable; I’ve probably guessed the correct plot-lines and conclusions for half of their productions before they were released, including Kung Fu Panda. The one exception I can think of at the moment is “Spirit”, and El Dorado… which I haven’t yet seen.

If Jeffrey Katenberg would just keep his hands off of things we might see some actual results from DreamWorks…

I hadn’t seen a Dreamworks film since Over the Hedge (and that was because it was based on a comic strip) and I must admit that I went into the theater expecting the worst. (I mean, it IS Dreamworks afterall, right?) But I really enjoyed it. The celebrity-studded cast that is typical of Dreamworks films actually worked really well. It seemed like they had alot more fun doing this one. As far as plot predictability goes, that could stem from the fact that they were spoofing old-school sci-fi movies. The part that made the theater (and me) laugh the most was [spoil]Bob receiving the gun and it immediately going off. It wasn’t quite as funny the second time…[/spoil] Excellent score, art and design.[/spoil]
