More dialogue?

Who thinks Pixar should add more dialogue to their shorts?

I personally

would want both ways. Geri’s Game, One Man Band and

most of their other shorts are just perfect the way they are - and it’s just ingenious how the story gets told

that unbelievably well without anything said - but I also adore the dvd exclusives

and Boundin’. Maybe our favorite animation company should experiment a bit more?

Hmm. Interesting question.

I suppose

it could work on both levels, depending on the short in question. If it was a (short) feature that required

dialogue and worked more effectively with it, I wouldn’t mind seeing a bit of action as far as conversation

goes.
On the other hand, it’s kind of nice to sit down and watch a little production that contains little to

no dialogue at all before the feature film itself plays on the screen. It gives one some time to relax while

laughing at the same time, if that makes sense. Eheh. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good question!

Exactly. Plus, in a certain sense, a dialogue-free short is timeless. Any person

regardless of language may watch, enjoy and relate. And their more fun for repeated viewings, if you get what I I

mean.

I think that it would be cool to have more dialouge, but at the same time, I think the animation speaks for

itself. I think you can tell an awesome story with animation using no words at all. Take note of all the other

dialougless pixar shorts.

Gasduude - Cha, exactly! Anyone

can enjoy it, unless they’re blind (oh man, that was mean). (snigger)

The Star

Swordsman - Exactly. Like you said, the animation “speaks for itself”. You don’t need a

translator to get the message across.

Very true mitch.

I

agree with both of you on that one. The animaion does “speak for itself”. Not every Pixar short

needs to have dialouge to tell the story.

I dont know. The ones that dont

have it, I feel dont need it. You get what’s going on without the use of words. If the short needs dialogue

(especially with ones they’ve done from movies) then they put it in. I think they just know whether to do it or

not.

I agree with

lennonluvr9- if it’s got dialogue, then that’s the right thing to do, and if it

hasn’t, then that’s also the right thing. Pixar always make the right decision with these sorts of things.
