If you haven’t watched Red Cliff and/or like movies like Mulan, I highly recommend it as well (although the heroes here are mostly males). It’s quite violent, though, and there’s a horse-birthing scene that might be squeamish.
Apparently, there’s even a recent live-action Mulan, but it didn’t get rave reviews. Little Big Soldier by Jackie Chan is also good, although I hated the ending a lot.
IV: Wow, I should watch Stanley & Iris. It reminds me of The King’s Speech, except there’s some romantic development.
District 9 is pretty depressing, but it has a great message on segregation and South Africa’s Apartheid rule. Except this time, it’s with aliens. It is also ironic that the protagonist, who worked with the government to displace the “illegal aliens”, ends up being one of them. Wasn’t Christian. Jr. adorable, though? <3
If you mean the little alien boy, I thought he was adorable, too. I was sort of okay with the intense setting and circumstances; it was the incredibly sad ending I didn’t love. I felt bad for the aliens for how they were treated, and for Minkus…for [spoil]losing everything[/spoil].
Lean on Me: A: I love this movie. Nice music (IMO), nice ideas, and Morgan Freeman is always awesome.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa: D: Well, I finally saw it. I can’t say much, except I don’t like it, and parts were just screaming The Lion King.
Pride & Prejudice: B: It was pretty good. But no chick flick ever gets more than a B from me. And it was very long. It had nice moments of silence, though, and I like those emotional parts.
Haha, you’re funny right there, TSS. I want to watch The Rescuers again (if only to see if that freeze-frame of that woman in the window is true… though I think they removed that for subsequent home releases) and the sequel that takes place down under!
Let me see… when was my first Disney crush? Maybe Princess Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire.
Kida is pretty attractive, and that’s from the mouth (keyboard?) of a straight female. She’s one of my favorites.
Rugrats Go Wild: Wow, nostalgia attack! This movie was very silly, and served no purpose. I didn’t like it at all. It wasn’t even good/bad like Good Burger, it was just plain bad.
I agree with you. It is underrated. It also might be under-appreciated, too. It wasn’t the most stellar Disney movie, but it is better than their bad stuff.
Beauty and the Beast: My God. How can it even be better than memory served?: A+: Yeah, this is only the third time I’ve seen this film (because of my dad’s issues), and it’s still amazing to me. It will probably always be my favorite Disney film, unless they surpass Tangled next year. I love the characters, especially Belle, the music, the songs, and the themes. I just love this film, period. <3 Yeah, it’s probably in my top 10 films of all time. Yes, I’m that weird.
