Movies - both new and old

Has anybody watched the 2003 live action Peter Pan? Is so, what do think?

I don’t know why, but when I was little, I never particularly cared about Disney’s Peter Pan. Maybe it’s because it was close in style and spirit to my personal favourite Alice in Wonderland but never matched it.

I like it a lot more now, but I’m still not as involved.

Weirdly, I did re-watch Peter Pan the other day. It was okay, I guess. A little sappy and boring, I agree with Spirit. I prefer Alice overall.

I saw Stand Up Guys with my dad just now. It was great! I liked everything about it, though the end left me confused.

I’ve always had Disney’s Peter Pan, but I had never seen Alice in Wonderland until this year, and I had always wanted to because it looked charming. I thought it was cute the first time but also odd and wasn’t sure how I felt about it all being a dream. But I saw it again later and learned to enjoy it for the fun yet odd film that it was. I laughed more the second time, too. I wish I had it when I was younger. I always liked Peter Pan, though, maybe just because I’m a boy and I liked a lot of the silly and sometimes senseless humor. I liked it (Peter) more than Alice after the first time I saw it (Alice), but after the re-watch I mentioned, I now enjoy both films equally.

I also recently re-watched Lady and the Tramp. That’s probably my favorite of that Disney era.

I’m assuming you liked it bc of that smily face? It’s a classic, that’s for sure. I like the movie a lot, but Peter is such a j e r k.

I (finally) saw Iron Man 3. I loved it, my favorite Iron Man film for sure.

Peter is really annoying, now that you say it. And yet he has so many fangirls. :unamused:

Aw. I don’t deny that Peter Pan is annoying, but I think he can be funny too. At least he only goes out of his way to save people, not harm them except for Hook and his crew. I laughed at when he does Hook’s voice as a kid so hard. And his fangirls could probably be considered annoying as well, except Wendy. I like the Darling children too, and I think they mostly like him because he’s the closest hero they have.

oh, I meant fangirls in real life, not in the movie. 8D I love Wendy! She and her brothers were the only characters I liked. And her mom also.

Oops! :open_mouth: My bad! Actually, I wouldn’t have guessed that there were that many real-life fangirls of him. It really is kind of a boy’s movie in some ways, I admit.

Yeah he does, especially on tumblr.

Has anyone seen the trailer for the second Hobbit movie? It just came out today!

I’m excited but worried about a couple things.

I watched like the first 30 seconds, bc my phone was being slow. XD I liked what I saw though!

I did! I liked the trailer. I’ve heard some complaints about Smaug, but I thought he looked good. After the first changing too many elements from the book, I’m hoping the next two will be more faithful to the book (I did like the first, but it should’ve been more faithful). The book is one of my all time favorites, so I am quite picky about the film adaptions (though I thought The Lord Of The Rings adaptions were great, despite some changes).

I like Legolas, honestly. But whyyyyyy do they keep promoting him being in The Hobbit. :C

Haha! Actually, I thought Tinkerbell was a jerk.

Yes, excited, excited about The Hobbit.

And yes, everybody in Neverland is a jerk.

Yes! At the end of the movie, I was wondering why people like her. I still say Wendy is the only good major character.

Yes, especially through most of it, but I do like her at the end. I think it counts that she felt guilty when she knew Captain Hook had Peter Pan cornered, and from then on, she was good.

I guess that’s what comes from wanting to live without rules. But I sympathize with the lost boys more because they obey Peter Pan, and they would probably be much more well-behaved if they had a mother to teach them right from wrong, as shown by Wendy.

It’s because she’s popular. I think it started because audiences probably thought her sassy attitude was cute at the time, and a lot of audiences years later agreed. And probably because she’s small, and people like to fit small people in the palm of their hand! I didn’t like her for the first half either. I sympathized more for the second half, though.

True. I like her better in the movie though, not the nice sugar sweet friendshpi lovely dovey personality change in merchandise and spin offs.

Ugh, yes. That’s completely inconsistent.
