Movies - both new and old

Has anyone ever seen Flight of the Navigator? It is one of my childhood favorites, and I just bought it at the store.

Disney recently hired a writer for a remake…

I’m watching The Sound of Music right now.

I guess there’s still a slim chance I might get to see it… Dad really liked it (Mom said it was too ‘political’) and said I would appreciate at least the art and animation quite a bit, so if I do see it, I’ll let you guys know.

After watching the trailer today, I’m itching to watch Mr. Fox again. Mom would tear hair if I did that, though.

I watched The Shawshank Redemption tonight. I had watched it before, but I barely remembered it, so I figured it was time for a rewatch. I loved it, but the ending was ruined for me. The people I was watching it with were talking and laughing the whole time, so the emotional impact of the movie was all but nonexistant. I’m sure if I had been alone while watching it, I would have cried. Very good film.

I watched a random movie on TV last night called Accidental Hero. It turned out to be surprisingly good! A very original, well written story that was unpredictable, moving and occassionally quite humorous.

I went and bought the DVD on eBay immediately after it ended so I can watch it again with my best friend.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: C+ 1-D characters, predictable plot, but fun to look at and has good ending.

TAMATER, is that the one with the ant? I remember a movie from my childhood where shrunken children befriended a giant (well, giant to them) ant, and I can’t remember if it was Honey, I Shrunk the Kids or not.

Hairspray (2007) - B+

I may be watching Inception tomorrow! I’ve got two free tickets for answering a survey, but the cinema printed on the tickets has already closed down, so I’m asking another branch under the same company whether they would accept my tickets since they doesn’t expire till mid-next year.

Good on ya, Flister! Well, if not SF, maybe action-adventure?

Yes, that’s the one with the ant.

Coming soon: Jurassic Park III

I’ve never had troubles watching any sort of movie with my parents. Anything rated G to R I’m comfortable watching with them. I know I’m 18 now, but even when I was younger we could watch anything together.

In fact, while I was on vacation this weekend I saw The Hangover - twice… I watched it with my Dad and his friends. That movie is hilarious, even if it’s very inapproppriate. I couldn’t stop laughing! It’s even better after the first couple of margaritas. (I don’t have a problem drinking with my family either!)

Went to see The Last Exorcism with my dad at the cinema today. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but I did really enjoy it. It’s one of those usual shaky camera films, getting you right in there with the action, but it was just so funny! I really got into it, and there are some brilliant jumpy moments, but as much as it tried to be a really scary, Blair Witch-esque film, I just couldn’t help but laugh at some of the scenes - as did the rest of the audience! The ending was a bit rubbish, but I’d happily give this one a seven out of ten, especially if you’re open-minded.

I FINALLY watched Inception yesterday, and it was as mind-boggling and brain-messing as everyone’s been saying it was. I watched with a mate, and he claimed that he understood the whole plot after watching it, even after arriving fifteen minutes after the movie started. :stuck_out_tongue: He had to explain to me the final bit, but I ‘got’ most of the story. The ending was perfect.

Is it the best film of the year? Well, I’ll say it’s the best live-action one so far.

Yay! I am so happy you finally saw Inception, thedriveintheatre! I know you have wanted to see it for a long time now.

I agree that it is definitely the best live action film of the year. Christopher Nolan did a stupendous job!

Definitely action-adventure! I saw it today and it was even better than I expected. My friends and I were on the edge of our seats the whole time. I urge anyone else here from Australia to go see Tomorrow When the War Began and support the Australian film industry’s gamble on quality - lest in the future all we get are more Wog Boy sequels.

love70ways: I agree! Mr. Nolan kicked everyone’s *sses!

Uh… don’t get me started on that one. :unamused: Glad you enjoyed it, Flister, that’s very encouraging news. I’ll see if I can make time and money for it, but it’s certainly something every Australian can be proud of.

Cast Away: A+ - Great movie, almost perfect, with a very powerful Tom Hanks performance.

TAMATER: I love that movie, too! Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors, and that movie is one of him at his best.

WILLLLLLSSSOOON! 8D Cast Away is a great movie, I’ve seen it too many times to count. Oh, and I’m happy you finally got to see Inception, TDIT. About time. :stuck_out_tongue:

[i]Pianomania /i - This film chronicles the work of a piano technician working with various high-profile pianists to achieve the perfect sound. And this is much more amusing than it - pardon the pun - sounds.

I do love a good documentary. Even better, if it has scenes in it where you can laugh yourself silly.
Now what I do not like is the center channel missing for the first 30 minutes of the screening, until the theater staff finally managed to fix it.
I guess without the technical issues I would haven enjoyed it even more.
