Music Festivals

Forgive me if this is in the wrong section, I couldn’t work out where to put it.

I was just wondering if anybody is off to any music festivals this summer?
I’m heading to glastonbury next week and cannot wait. I went last year and it was the best weekend of my year. I’ve also got a day ticket for Leeds to see blink 182, weezer and motion city soundtrack.

I don’t know what festivals you get in the states, the only one I am familliar with is the warpes tour, which always looks awesome

Oh wow, Glastonbury, the festival to end all festivals. Hope you have a great time, St_Jons! Is there anyone in particular you’re looking forward to seeing?

I’m going to my first festival ever this year, Bestival on the Isle of Wight. I’m looking forward to it because I’m going with my best friends in September, just before we part ways and go to universities all around the country, so it’ll be a great last gathering, so to speak. To be honest, that’s probably the main reason I’m going, though there are a few good music acts playing; the Prodigy is one I’m especially looking forward to.

What I’m NOT looking forward to, however, are the toilets.

ahhh Festival Toilets, the one down side the greatest weekends ever. My tip would be to keep an eye out, if you see one being cleaned, hang about and use it as soon as they leave.

I’m really excited to see the flaming lips and stevie wonder, theres also a great band called los albertos playing on the thursday night which will be great. Not to mention the strong rumour for Toy Story 3 playing on the sunday morning. They had Up last year which didn’t come out in the UK untill october so I have high hopes this rumour will be true.

Wow just had a look at the bestival line up, it looks fantastic. Be sure to check out Beth Jeans Houghton on the last day. My girlfriend is good friends with her, have seen her a couple of times now and she is really good.

Thanks for the tip, St_Jons. I’ll be relying on my wet wipes.

They might be showing Toy Story 3? Now I’m majorly jealous! I didn’t realise they’d shown Up last year! So cool.

I’ll keep an eye out for Beth Jeans Houghton, though I really don’t know much about music at all. I’m trusting my friends’ judgements with this one.

I’ve always been envious of everyone over in the UK - you guys have great festivals!

While the ones I go to aren’t quite the same (they tour the US, setting up for only a day.) I guess they still “count” as music festivals. I’ve been going to the Vans Warped Tour for 4 years now. The music quality has decreased, but it’s just a fun day in the sun with my friends, enjoying everything. I look forward to it every year.

I’m also doing the Bamboozle Roadshow. It’s like Warped Tour, but in a smaller space and with less bands, but the traveling all day festival aspect is the same.

Ali I think the warped tour always looks great, although I must say festivals in the uk really are a great experience. I could go to glastonbury and not watch any bands, it just has such a nice atmosphere. Same goes for Latitude festival, which is only now in its 4 year I think, but its so peaceful.

Lizardgirl, yeah they had it playing in 3d, with partly cloudy before hand as well. So fingers crossed I may even get to see day and night. Its not for sure, but with Toy Story playing friday morning, Toy Story 2 playing saturday, and a free slot on monday morning, it really seems like they are hinting at it.

Warped Tour is a crazy and chaotic day. 90 degree or above weather, different schedules everday (one band could play at 11:00 am one day and 5:00 pm the next), lots and lots of moshing, huge crowds, the list goes on. But it is worth it. The worst part about it is when two bands you want to see play end up playing at the same time, and you have to choose between them. But yea, hopefully i can go this year again. I’m looking forward to seeing The Rocket Summer and Deas Vail.

I love The Rocket Summer! I’ve seen them a few times now, such a great group of people.

I really hope to see Andrew WK, and hopefully meet him as well.
