I can’t see any scratches on the
surface but during the traffic court scene my DVD player tends to get choppy then skips to the next chapter which
is the Bessie scene.
I try cleaning it with a soft cloth and it still skips
Debating whether I
should get a new DVD or not. I should look into to that 2-disc pack wal-mart had.

Puh-ha! Yours does that, too? And I thought mine was the only one…
My
Cars dvd will skip from the first scene/section of the film…to the second section.
It doesn’t always occur, but when it does it’s unexpected and involuntary (obviously).
Sometimes there
is dust on the dvd that causes the film itself to either skip or appear “fuzzy” and distorted for a
certain amount of time. I find that by cleaning the disk with a very lightly damp
paper towel, and then tenderly drying it clean with a dry paper towel, seems to eliminate the problem at times.
If the disc itself is scratched, however, there isn’t much you can do about it except to, perhaps, purchase a
replacement disc. There is also always the chance that the dvd you obtained is a faulty one…
Usually,
scratches on me and my family’s dvds appear after they’ve been handled and viewed so many times. It’s bound to
get a bump or a scratch at one time or another. Sometimes the problem of “scene skipping” and
“film fuzziness” goes away over time, but it really depends upon what kind of condition you keep your
“problem” dvd in.
Besides the “wet towel” technique, I’m not really sure what else
to prescribe however.

Ya I use the stuff you clean eye glasses (the spray and
soft cloth) with to clean the disc.
I’ll probably buy another disc later on I watch the movie so many
times it is worth it for me. I might wait a few years until they have a “Special edition” or something.
I burnt a copy of the movie and the burnt copy plays just fine.
have you tried a disc cleaner? That should help. If not, you can try to live with it or get a new one.
Bleh, that would suck… When me
and my brother rented out the Cars DVD for me to watch for the very first time, it kept stuffing up and going all
pixelly and choppy at the scene where Sally’s talking to Lightning at the Cozy Cone after Mater’s driving
backwards. So I couldn’t see that bit properly until we bought our own Cars DVD. Now it’s fine.
:/
Pixel Candy -(off-topic)The same thing happened when I rented Fantasia 2000.It cut
through about 20 minutes and was so glitchy after that. I’m trying to resist the urge to toilet-paper
Blockbuster for giving me a copy with a huge scratch in it…

TSS - I figure the eye glass cleaning stuff is the same thing.
On another note, I
could download the mnovie from iTunes and never have a skipping problem again.
But I would like to see if
they have a “special edition” coming out.
Me too, me too!
hmm ,
mine’s is starting to do that too lately … maybe it’s because we’ve watched it so many times …
I’ve
been thinking of getting a new one too , because even after I cleaned it with a disc cleaner , it still started
to skip …

aZnCdn - Hmm. Well, did you ever fix the problem, or are you just
going to get a new one?

This happened with our TI and MI DVDs. We avoided watching them 4 a while and when we watched it again, it didn’t do anything. But one time it paused and I got a funny pause of Sulley.

I burned a copy of it and now I just watch to burnt copy
My Monsters, Inc DVD does that, but I learn to live with it. I don’t watch it often, but when I do sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.
My Monsters Inc does that in one place everytime, but it’s not a crucial scene so I just fast forward a little bit past that spot.
