My Fullscreen Family

My family, not being very…er…rich does not have the money to buy a widescreen television. Since they don’t really notice the benifits of widescreen they always chose what looks best to them: fullscreen. They always buy the fullscreen versions of movies and simple refuse to watch them any other way. I try to explain that with widescreen you see MORE. They say no, you don’t because the tops get cut off and it’s too distracting. I tell them the image is just zoomed in but…AUGH! Can someone PLEASE tell me I’m not only person in the world that has to deal with this?!

You’re not. All my TV’s are fullscreen. I noticed this for sure when I was watching Cars. The scene Breakfast At Flo’s involves Fillmore leaning into Sarge, and Sarge scooting away uncomfortably. My TV’s cut that off. All I see is Sarge starting to come into view. Why I prefer my computer for I can see everything on the sides. Like that very hilarious scene in the background.

Widescreen sucks

FULLSCREEN FTW!

You’re not alone. It’s a difference in perception of what movies are. They are just looking for entertainment while anyone who cares enough to watch a film in it’s correct aspect ratio wants far more then just that.

Move aspect ration is 1.85:1 which is super wide screen, so with 4:3 you are missing quite a bit.

Though, especially older movies, the ratio can vary a lot. Disney’s Robin Hood was actually made fullscreen (1.37:1) but the recent DVD release is widescreen (1.75:1).

Here’s how i Converted my Nonbelieving Family from Fullscreen to Widescreen

My family is Religious–Christians

So i told them this

Picture The Last Supper
12 Deciples and Jesus in the middle
Now if you were to Pan and Scan/Fullscreen this Widescreen picture
You would CUT OFF 6 of the Deciples, 3 from each side
You still have 6 Deciples and Jesus in the middle
and it still pretty much tells the same story

After seeing The 2 Comparisons, We are now an ALL Widescreen Family.

I’m not trying to stir anyone up by using these Pictures.
This was just my way of Getting them to understand, and it worked

One other way to try to Convince people is on Youtube

It’s the movie Blade Runner, they use a Red Square in a Widescreen Version of the movie to show the difference, it’s quite Amazing and very Informal

With this, you can show them that there is Nothing Missing from the Top or Bottom of the screen, Only from the Sides. If the Black Bars were not on the Top and Bottom of the screen, they would be seeing Snow
Hope this Helps

it doesnt matter to me i like both full and wide.

I used to obly like full because i used to think the black bars were destracting. But after seeing how much u actually miss on full screen i have a new appreciation for it!
