Do you think Alfredo is a nerd? To me, yes, he looks and acts like one…
Is Remy a vegetarian? I know that he certainly isn’t a vegan due to his penchant for cheese and eggs, but is he the former? I don’t remember seeing him dealing with meat, I don’t know…
WOW LOL
Linguini isn’t a nerd
not once does he show his interest in subjects such as tecnology science or sci-fi
I’d say he’s just a clumsy teen
As for your other question
I dont know
but ask yourself this
do rats eat meat?
To answer your first question, yes, he is very much a dork, but in a good way
And as for your second question, i’m not sure. I never really thought about how he really doesn’t eat meat in the film, but it might just be a coincidence.
Linguini (and I know it’s his last name, but everyone calls him that in Ratatouille) is definitely not a nerd.
nerd: a person with limited social, but advanced technological skills and interests
Definitely not Linguini. As for Remy being a vegetarian, I don’t think he ate any meat in the entire film. I just asked my sister who not only loves Ratatouille, but she also has a photographic memory (seriously), and she cannot recall Remy eating meat anywhere in the film. In my opinion, I don’t think Remy is exactly a vegetarian…
vegetarian: a person who leaves meat, poultry, fish and other animal-derived foods out of their diet
…but I think he has a problem with eating animals that, when they were leave, were bigger than him.
Linguini may look nerdy, but to me he seems like an awkward teen who hasn’t found something he’s good at besides basic things like mopping up or washing dishes. He seems lost in the world, and I can relate to him somewhat.
Rats eat meat (at least … mine does. ) and Remy … well, yeah, he may be a vegetarian, sure but … well, maybe they thought making Remy eat healthy would make kids eat healthy, aside from that dessert he was about to eat. xD
FONY: That’s funny, but it’s so Disney, and (I hope) you know how much I hate the Walt Disney Company, stealing everyone else’s ideas just because they don’t have any more imagination (although that could very well change with the recent addition of John Lasseter). Anyway, I remember Disney trying to make everyone save energy by having Remy dance with a fluorescent lightbulb. That was so not Pixar. It was very Disney.
But it was so cute, I might just buy those lightbulbs anyway. At least I know that none of my money will go to Disney. XD
Linguini I don’t consider too much a nerd. He was probably a quiet sort as a kid, mostly kept to himself and didn’t know how to socialize.
As he say’s to Remy, he’s been in and out of jobs, and usually nerds…most of the time heh…get jobs involving more technical expertise.
Ah doubt Remy’s a vegetarian. I think, though, that he does add allot of vegtables to several of his meals however. We hardly see him with fruit, other than the near rotten strawberry we see near the beginning, though I think that comes in on deserts.
And I think the one meal, the second one, after the soup where the costumers “want something new”, had some form of meat in it.
Though I would say that if Remy DOES want to be a good chef, he’s gotta know meat heh heh.
Ahh that is true. The one I was referring to was when he was first “eating” with his dad and brother. Thank you for reminding.
Forgot, yes there was the cheese and strawberry he ate. And if I recall…I think a cherry during his “break” before he meets up with Emile again.
Being a rat, Remy is probably a certified omnivore, but you never know! He obviously enjoys devouring a mushroom or a piece of fruit every now and then, and, as you guys mentioned, he won’t refuse a piece of cheese.
I remember seeing Emile eating a grape (well, more than one ) right before Linguini discovers that Remy’s stealing food. How could you, I thought you wer…oops, there I go again.
And Remy was going to cook something with a tomato (I need not repeat that useless fact that everybody knows) , but one smelled bad, and the other, well, wasn’t used for cooking.
I wonder if Linguini had to clean up Remy’s messes, or did Remy help him out?
Well, for the first question- what exactly is a nerd? If you were to define a nerd, what would the criteria be? I’m sure it’s different from different points of view. Personally, Linguini doesn’t strike me as being nerdy at all- clumsy, accident-prone, sometimes not always able to relate to the rest of the human race, but not someone nerdy. If he were nerdy, I’d imagine he’d have his head stuck in a book most of the time, or he’d be addicted to something like World of Warcraft.
And as for the second question, well, we’ve pretty much gathered that Remy is most likely an omnivore.
I think Linguini is a complete goof, but you learn to love his lovable side. I don’t think he is a nerd. I mean, isn’t there anything out there that he knows 100% about?
And being a rat, I think Remy eats both meat and plants.
Linguini just does not know much about cooking. But when he’s not cooking, he’s doing great, and isn’t acting clumsy. He got enough moeny to buy an apartment, he’s good at keeping secrets, he’s probably the best roller-skater in France, and he can find a good Chinese take-out place in Paris.
He’s only clumsy when he enters a kitchen and when he’s drunk. Definitely not a nerd, geek, or dork.
One of the great things about Linguini is that he - um, two things, actually… let’s start over…
As the French person who wrote a ratatouille review on here said, Ratatouille revives the silent cinema classsic physical comedy tradition - and Linguini revives the tradition of comic heroes like Stan Laurel, George Fornby et al., who get the girl despite not being the muscular romantic hero type.
I think it’s amazing that Linguini breaks the all-too-common American high-school mold, that anyone who’s not an athletic type can’t get the girl, be a hero, etc. He’s a certified dork - he can’t even get a letter out of his pocket without spinning around three times - but he has other qalities, such as what you described, A113, that make him well-rounded. Anyway, I think it’s a great role model for the younger generation, the idea that you can be a dork and still be lovable as long as you can be yourself… well, 'nuff said.
Are you sure he’s american? It is safe to say that he is Italian/of Italian descent though. And I think his mother taught him some french in addition to english and italian
