Napoleon Dynamite

Who here likes this movie besides me?

Here a video you probably have not seen with Napoleon Dynamite and Bill Gates.

I love that movie!!

And that’s pretty much the greatest YouTube clip ever.

Yup. lol

I thought that was a dumb movie. Too stupid and pointless.

Ya I like the break dancing

I loved Napoleon Dynamite when I first watched it. But the second time wasn’t as good, but it was still an ok movie. It seems people either love or hate this movie. I liked how they made it seem like it was made in the '80s, or maybe that state was a bit behind the times in fashion and stuff. LOL

I also like how Napoleon would say “Dang it!”, because he wasn’t allowed to swear. Heheh. Pedro rocks as well. There is a t-shirt that says “Vote for Pedro and all your wildest dreams will come true”, that I want to buy. :sunglasses:

I will never forgive [i:3hjlautw]Napoleon Dynamite[/i:3hjlautw] for beating [i:3hjlautw]The Incredibles[/i:3hjlautw] for Best Movie at the 2005 MTV Movie Awards. :-\ Heheh.

Well, it was a good movie…But not as good as The Incredibles. :stuck_out_tongue:

I love the movie!

~~=oP[/quote:3pqy0fwl]Oh yeah, I saw that on TV, and I swore crying my eyes out when I found out TI lost. Oh well, the ending dance scene was the only scene in that movie that made me a tiny bit intrested.

Napoleon Dynamite is the only movie that I’ve seen that was honestly too painful for me to sit through. I had turn it off halfway through and have never seen the entire film, and never plan on doing so either. I’m sure it’s not the only movie out there that I would find painful, to be fair (Borat would probably be another), but it’s the only one of them that I’ve actually tried watching.

I’m just one of those people who doesn’t usually find humor in awkward situations and characters. Maybe things that are a little bit awkward, but Napoleon Dynamite is just too dumb. I chuckled maybe once, the rest of the time I was just feeling sorry for everybody either for being stupid. or for having to put up with everybody else being stupid.

Napoleon Dynamite made being awkward even more awkward. :stuck_out_tongue:

:-\ You cannot be serious, dude. I mean, it was the MTV Movie Awards. [quoted from Wikipedia] "The MTV Movie Awards have been commonly nicknamed the "Anti-Oscars" because of their unoscar-like categories and nominated movies and their rewarding of movies that normally get ignored by the Academy Awards' major categories." In 2005, [quoted from Wikipedia] "For the first time in six years, the winner for Best Movie ([i:2ec8cclz]Napoleon Dynamite[/i:2ec8cclz]) was a movie that didn't receive a single Oscar nomination".

Why did [i:2ec8cclz]Napoleon Dynamite[/i:2ec8cclz] win? First of all, it’s an MTV film. Secondly, I don’t consider the majority of MTV’s viewing audience as part of the cultural elite. They’re gonna vote for the most popular movie, not the best. They voted Ben Stiller as White Goodman in [i:2ec8cclz]Dodgeball[/i:2ec8cclz] for Best Villain. Lame lame lame lame lame!

So yes, I’m positive Pixar didn’t fret over that loss.

I thought I was going to like the movie an awful lot more than I actually did. A friend from work really talked it up and lent it to me, and I forced myself to sit through all of it because I kept expecting it to get better. It felt like nothing had actually happened by the end. There were a few funny moments, but I don’t think it deserves the praise it’s gotten.

I adore Napolean Dynamite. I’m a big fan of indie movies generally, and although Nap. Dynamite has ended up being one of those popular indie movies, I still love it. The acting, all those memorable quotes, the characters are almost comic book-like in the way that they’re extreme and sort of cliche. The soundtrack just goes so well. There’s just something about it, as a film, that makes me smile. I mean, that sequence when Pedro explains why he shaved off his hair…It’s so random, yet sort of real.

It’s not a film I’d watch over and over again, yet it has some X quality that I just love.
